Maybe he didn't mean anything by it but it came out sounding very bad and demeaning. There are a lot of players in class A that deserve a look. Should they be drafted? That is not for me to say but they shouldn't be shunned because they are from a small school. If he didn't mean the way it sounded, I can understand that. I have done that myself on numerous occasions but not on state wide TV. He should have been more careful with his words.

Sounds like it is agreed upon Mr. Thompson might want to think before he speaks...
Drew LeBlanc was mentioned tonight as being rated at #77. I know he has been rated as one of the top 5 or 6 players (A and AA) who are still playing at a Minnesota High School... not including MN born players at SSM or the development teams or other.
Someone please post all the AA players who made the tourney this year that are in the top 100!
And lets get real, unless you're rated in the top 5 or 10, you've got 2 or 3 years or more of development before a pro team will call on you anyway.

I found my answer:
From Charley Walters March 8th column in the Pioneer Press:
http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincitie ... 856223.htm
"The state's top-ranked player, although not in the tournament, is Ryan McDonagh of Cretin-Derham Hall, who is has signed to play for Wisconsin and is projected as a first-round NHL draft pick in June.
White and McDonagh will join the U.S. under-18 team that will compete in the junior world tournament next month in Europe.
Other Minnesota players ranked by Central Scouting include Gophers-bound Nick Larson of Hill-Murray (No. 51), Denver-bound John Lee of Moorhead (No. 53), Gophers-bound Nico Sacchetti of Virginia (No. 61), Drew LeBlanc of Hermantown (No. 77), Gophers-bound Jake Hansen of White Bear Lake (No. 80), Colorado College-bound Tyler Johnson of Cloquet (No. 103) and Dartmouth-bound Joe Stejskal of Grand Rapids (No. 133)."
