Boston,

Where are you living? Go to your local assocation and get him involved in the Mite program there. You can also look into the Minnesota Made ice centers Mite choice program that is secondary to your local association.
Birth year hockey is only for the spring/summer AAA season here...

whatever town you are living in, you can google search that town amateur hockey association and usually find your local association info.

You most likely can walk him right onto a Mite program today where you live. Good luck

I'm not an expert on the options available to a 7yr old, but it would seem to make most sense to just stay in the flow of your local association (many have off season clinics, organize spring/fall Showcase teams, etc.), and have him do a couple camps if he's interested. Make sure he is really having fun, and keep the focus on skill development. As hockey parents, we all have a tendency to over do it. If he's a goalie, Steve Carroll does a good job with the very young goalies, teaching basic goaltender fundamentals. You have plenty of years ahead to spend $ on AAA games & tournaments.

Honestly, I thought the Dynamo league was pretty much dead. It had been Showcase's attempt to build a "feeder" program to its AAA teams, but I think the numbers (players, teams) and the quality of hockey has been soft. If you're dead set on getting him on a AAA team, I could be wrong, but I believe the only real option for a 2000 birthdate is the Showcase AAA program. Most of the major independent AAA teams (Blades, Machine, etc.) go through '99s at this point.

In regards to only the 94' Easton squad...the selection of that team will do nothing to diminish the quality of play of the Showcase teams. This team will be rostered mainly from players who were on Invitational teams last summer. They are being coached by Chris Dahlquist (Predators) and Frank Mork (Icemen).
