I can only speak for TJ. She will be at every game. And, yes, grades are never an issue for her.

Should be a good time. It will be fun to see which player wins the shoot out, and who the top goalie will be?

Austin Tournament

The Minneapolis Novas will never be ranked, just because they are from the City- regardless of their talent and depth. People from Minneapolis understand that early on in their season and frankly, do not care what the polls say- just like Minneapolis Southwest is ranked as one of the best high schools in the United States due to the difficulty of the IB program- it is an unbelievably difficult high school- and this is coming from a private school parent. People from the exburban and suburban areas have no clue as to what is going on in the City, and vice versa. Unfortunate but true! May the best team win.

The Novas are a great team, with classy coaches. I always enjoy them at the tourney. Casey is a great player/kid from a great family. They are a team, that could win the tourney.

The winner of the West/Novas game will win the tourney.

I still think all of the 1A cupcakes advance though!

Novas blown out by Mankato West. Anyone see the game or know what the shots on goal were for Mankato?

Saves were 37 for Mankato and 20 for the Nova's. I did not see the game, but it sounds like goaltending was a big factor in this game. Both ways. Stats can be found at www.mghca.com

the nfld jefferson game was closer than the score indicates. Nfld didn't play a strong second period and that's when Jefferson put their goals in.

Does anyone know anything about the Huron team? Huron is a pretty big town, I'm surprised they aren't competing better. Are they playing a regular varsity/jv team or do they have a U19-U16-U-14 type set up?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH !!!!!!

Nice team effort by AL. Best since early in the season...

Way to go ladies !!!!

Outskated Mankato West and picked up a nice 6-3 win. Not sure one MW goal should have counted. Ya can't score by hitting the goalie's glove in after the puck is covered :D :D

Kept MW #18 from cherry-picking and breaking on the goalie for the most part.

Enjoy the championship game, and let the Metro know you have arrived.

WOW,

I saw this one... It was actually a pretty close game, Austin played slower than usual and would have been better off with 6 skaters.

Shootout was awesome! KH had 17 saves...out of 35.
What suprised me was:
1. TJ's deke on the Fairmont goalie. IT WAS AMAZING!!!
2. Huron's goalie was very solid.
3. TJ did the same move successfully 4 times in a row!
4. Bloomington didn't win a thing.
5. THE DANCE!

Good games tomorrow. Get 'em tigers.
Albert Lea is the greatest.

How do you select "all tournament" teams BEFORE the tournament is over?

It is a debated topic everyyear. Yes it should be done at the end. But they want to give out the trophies to the players as they leave versus Fedex. Most teams leave right after their games, so the players would not recieve them soon enough. So basically, they judges take into account the first two games and the skill night.

Fairmont 7
Huron 1

Novas 3
Northfield 2
OT. Northfield had the lead for the entire game. Novas pulled their goalie at the end and tied it up. (McMullen scored) They then won it in OT.

I imagine the stats will be posted on the mghca website as soon as the coaches return home. I see Mankato posts theirs immediately.
