who_b_dat wrote:I too think it will be a forward. It’s hard to give single A much love due to SOS. I like Mueller (Roseville) and Barnes (Burnsville) but it will depend upon whose team gets on TV in March and who is still putting up the numbers.

Then again, Aaron has been changing the landscape of high school hockey as I have come to know it. Who’s to say they don’t pick yet another blueliner and a junior/senior at that. Encouraging kids to do what Mr. Ness is doing this year (two years of high school in one year) is, in my humble opinion, the wrong precedent to set. I can only hope that those voting have that as a consideration.
Mueller is one of the most overrated players in the state. He's probably the 3rd or 4th best forward in the SEC.

F - Tyler Barnes - Burnsville (Wisconsin recruit)
F - Ryan Bohrer - Cretin
D - Corey Feinhage - Eastview (North Dakota recruit)
F - Joe Frazer - Brainerd (Nebraska-Omaha recruit)
D - Jake Gardiner - Minnetonka (Wisconsin recruit)
D - Joe Gleason - Edina (North Dakota recruit)
F - Jake Johnson - Duluth Denfield
F - Justin Jokinen - Cloquet/Esko/Carlton
F - Zach Lehrke - Park Rapids
F - Adam Mueller - Roseville (Mankato recruit)
F - Ben Nelson - Roseau
D - Aaron Ness - Roseau (Minnesota recruit) (contingent)
D - Drew Olson - Brainerd (Duluth recruit)
F - John O'Neill - Anoka (Duluth recruit)
F - Bryce Ravndalen - Warroad (St. Cloud State recruit)
D - Chris Student - Benilde (Northeastern recruit)
F - Jake Youso - International Falls (Minnesota recruit)
Most people on the board would assume this list could be cut down to the following:

Aaron Ness
Joe Gleason
Jake Gardiner

Those seem to be the 3 favorites of most, not all but most.

How about a little help compiling or finding a list of AP Player of the Year since the Mr. Hockey award started. I couldn't find a link that had every winner in one list.

i am changing my mind...NESS! nu,mber one prospect and better than fairchild.
mr hockey and highest drafted minnesotan. probably a state champion too.
some scouts quotes from the draft guys page:
Aaron Ness - He's got some power play abilities, but he's 5-10 160. Maybe better than Cade Fairchild if you compared the two. He has good quickness and agility, but he couldn't break rice paper with his shot. He's poised; a contain dman. He's really talented. He can't shoot, but he's quick and he can really distribute the puck well.
Aaron Ness D - Roseau HS Minn. - "Ness is a puck mover with a girl's shot. He is unlikely to score unless his shot gets redirected by the defender. Ness was good but he's 5' 8" at best. You'll need some balls to take him too early. He is tiny, but he's the number one prospect in high school.

not to many teams are willing to spend millions on the size of there "huevos". He has spent to much time at the north rink and is just to small. he will always be a good roseau hockey player.

You can't impress all the scouts as it appears......ISS surely thought differently than the Rice-Paper (Bush League) scout. I've seen his shot and it's just fine. Having a 100 mph shot or being bigger than everyone else doesn't mean you will be effective as a hockey player. Being such an effective player (on both sides of the puck) is why he is projected and praised as much as he is......Gardiner got PUNKED! NESS is crowned Mr. Hockey!

My top five:

Dan Jacques
Joe Gleason
Jake Youso
Justin Jokinen
Jake Gardiner

I have to keep Jokinen in their because he was my preseason pick. Award should go to Youso.

No, but I PREDICT that he'll be eligible and that he'll win it too. Gardiner is my second choice. Youso is my third choice and will be a fantastic college player, but there's no way they'll pick him over Gardiner.
