Well I have followed the broncos for most of the season and I can tell you that they are definetely more that one line deep. Up until the Denfeld game the second line of the broncos had not been scored upon. That line brings their lunch pail every night!!!!pacman wrote:I dont know whether falls is overrated or what, but they didn't bring their A game tonight thats for sure, Yusso wasn't impressive, Corrin taking too many dumb penalties killed I Falls, Sandstrom Played on his head, i think that Falls is really 1 line deep.
I. Falls @ Hibbing 1-31-08

For those of you that think the falls in one line deep, where have you been?.. The second line brings their lunch pail every night and they can put it in the net too. And their third line can hold their own also. And by the way, the second line had not been scored on all year until the Denfeld game.

This was a great win for Hibbing last night. They came out and played three periods of hockey. Corrin for the Falls is a big drink of water. Had four penaltys called on him and very well should have had more. Good time to wake up Hibbing. Now it's time to put an ! point on GR.hockey1410 wrote:Good win for Hibbing
After playing 17 games of a cake schedule and actually being ranked #1 somewhere, they lose to 9-11 Hibbing. Hopefully they lose 2 of their remaining 5 show how overrated they were.
Are you kidding, you really think they have played a cake schedule??? They beat Hermantown, Albert Lea, Lourdes, Denfeld, Virginia twice, Theif River, Bemidji, and Fort Frances!! I believe that isnt a cake schedule

This is very true, most teams have at least a couple of weak teams to play against, but the Falls have played alot of tough teams.

Post to Post - Without trying, you proved the HSwatcher's point with your post. If you call those teams tough, I think you may be deluded. If those teams are the best on I. Falls' schedule, they may be in for a disapointing sectional playoff.hockey1410 wrote:post2post wrote:Are you kidding, you really think they have played a cake schedule??? They definately dont have a DIFFICULT schedule. Those teams are good; however, they also play Greenway and LOW twice, as well as Ely, Silver Bay and Two harbors, instead of playing a top section team DM. This isnt a bash on their scheduling, but why dont they play Warroad, a good team who is close compared to other teams. I do give them credit for playing Roseau.hockey1410 wrote:post2post wrote:Are you kidding, you really think they have played a cake schedule??? Thats too bad, because this year it would have been a sweet game.PUCKDUCKER33 wrote:They use to play Warroad but a few years ago Mr Eades used the same tactics he did in the gopher game last night, chippiness took place of good hockey and so in the interest of the welfare of the players the Falls decided to quit scheduling them.

I thought Grand Rapids were known as the ThunderChickens, but I see it's actually the I. Falls team. Sounds like they may be a bit "chicken" to schedule the Warrior team.PUCKDUCKER33 wrote:They use to play Warroad but a few years ago Mr Eades used the same tactics he did in the gopher game last night, chippiness took place of good hockey and so in the interest of the welfare of the players the Falls decided to quit scheduling them.

I assume your reference to a dissapointing sectional playoff refers to Duluth Marshall knocking them out, since the other teams in the section all are on their schedule -- twice. DM has been competetive on the same level with many common opponents. Denfeld should have beaten them a couple nights ago and I Falls just beat them last week. They beat Hibbing 2-0, I Falls split with Hibbing. Greenway is a good team -- they would be much more competetive if they had goaltending - they are playing an 8th grader. That's why one night you see Marshall win 7-2, then a week or two later they hang in with I Falls 4-3. We'll get another gauge on Tuesday when Marshall heads up to Virginia, where I am sure we'll see another competetive game. I think Marshall fans and some other people are putting WAY too much weight on Marshalls one win over St. Thomas Academy (who in my mind isn't a top 5 class A team right now). Strength of schedule does not make you a better team - Talent, effort, and teamwork do. I Falls is located around nothing. Its a haul to EVERY away game and its hard to get teams to make the trip all the way up there. So they will never have a loaded schedule like some of the other top teams do unless they start winning state championships year after year. Just curious, how many games have you seen personally involving any of these teams, AY?AngusYoung wrote:Post to Post - Without trying, you proved the HSwatcher's point with your post. I'm guessing this is your attempt at humor?AngusYoung wrote:I thought Grand Rapids were known as the ThunderChickens, but I see it's actually the I. Falls team. Sounds like they may be a bit "chicken" to schedule the Warrior team.

Two, Two, Two, and Three.AngusYoung wrote:How many St. Thomas Academy games have you seen? Albert Lea? Little Falls? Warroad?

I'll admit that I might be a little biased - I live up here on the range, but I'm not blind nor ignorant to what I see on the ice and I'm not just blurting stuff out without actually having an idea of what I'm talking about. I've seen the top five teams in 7A play at least three times each now (many times more for a couple of them) and I've seen the box score from every game played by every team in 7A & 7AA along with the northern 5A teams. Not to mention, I have seen and heard much more about what went on at many of the games. I try to be objective when I post on this board and believe I am in this case, even though my opinion may favor some teams in my area.
The bottom line for me is that schedule strength is good, but its not the end-all, tell-all that sometimes a lot of folks on this board makes it out to be. Does it help? Sure, sometimes - and it can bolster a team's PS2 ranking. But it doesn't punch you a ticket to St. Paul. I'll point out Duluth East and Hibbing as examples. They play some of the toughest schedules in their respective classes every year. Yet, neither has seen the state tournament in a few years, and neither have built any kind of hockey dynasty off of those schedules. Are they contenders? Yes. But there are several other teams right with them year in and year out that don't play those type of schedules.
HIBBING/I FALLS
YES THE FALLS DIDN'T PLAY THEIR A GAME BUT WHEN YOUR KILLING PENALTIES ALL NIGHT IT IS TOUGH TO GET INTO THE FLOW OF THE GAME. THE 2 OFFICIALS SHOULD LOOK INTO THE MIRROR AND ASK THEMSELFES IF THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF OFFICIATING OR NOT? A LOCAL HIBBING OFFICIAL EVEN WALKED OU OF TTHE GAME BECAUSE HE WAS EMBARESSED FOR HIS FELLOW OFFICIALS. THE FALLS HAS RAPIDS AND ROSEAU COMING UP AND THAT WILL GET THEM READY FOR SECTIONS.
