Woodbury/Roseville

Congrats to Woodbury and especially coach Wes Bolin. In his short time at Woodbury, he has brought them to state for the first time ever and has now won their first ever SEC title.
This was an excellent game. Once again, I was not all that impressed by Mueller, but was impressed by Eddy. I just don't see wehre everyone who is saying Mueller is so much better is coming from. Mueller is undoubtedly a very good hockey player, but to say he is head and shoulders above Eddy just seems unfair and honestly just wrong.

Well I tip my hats to Roseville no doubt. They gave Wigen tons of shots in the 1st and Wigen stopped a handful but his defense was pretty awful. Roseville just kept intercepting passes in the zone and they got two goals. Woodbury came out lucky that they weren't down by more with the opportunities Roseville had. They totally dominated the Royals for the 1st period and the first half of the 2nd period. Just like Cretin they couldn't finish the job. It seemed they ran out of gas. Woodbury finally stepped up its defensive play in the third when the game was on the line and didn't make Wigen have to completely win the game for them like against Cretin.
Congrats to Woodbury on their first SEC title! I tell you what both Roseville and Cretin really played well against the Royals but you have to finish the job. Obviously it was only 2-1 after one against Roseville and there is tons of time but they truly dominated the first half of the hockey game. Woodbury finally took it to them the 2nd half.
As for goaltending Podobinski played pretty well but didn't make any huge saves. He really wasn't tested with high quality scoring chances and the ones the Royals did have on him went in. Not much you can do about that.
Wigen played pretty solid I'd have to say. He saved his teams butt on a number of ocassions in the first and then finally Roseville broke through getting two.
As for the Eddy vs. Mueller debate I'm pretty sure Eddy won. Mueller had a great pass on the 2nd goal but that was his most impressive moment of the night. That was his only point. I just don't see how people can say that Mueller is just totally better than Eddy. They both have speed, good shot, and dangling abilities. As for using the body Eddy is ruthless. He throws his body around all of the time where I don't see Mueller making big checks. Mueller has no size. He is all speed. He didn't do jack against Woodbury this year.
Congrats to Woodbury but I tell you what Roseville, Cretin, and White Bear are going to be teams to be reckoned with in playoffs. Also remember Woodbury plays White Bear on Thursday. Obviously this isn't as huge a game as it could have been but it will still be interesting after the fight from last game.

They are good and probebly hit harder than any defenseman on the team. They make some great plays and get a piece of the team gaols. But if you watch you will see that Mueller brings the lightning and thunder to the party. If he can led the Raida’z out of the conference and into state Mueller should get the Mr. Hockey. Raida’z will kill Woodbury and win by at least 3 goals. Take it to the bank sucka!slapstkhound wrote:Are there players other than Adam Mueller on Roseville? He has not been amazing when I have seen him play. Good....no doubt, but not amazing. I give the win to Woodbury based on total team effort and not a reliance on one single player.whitebearsuperfanB wrote:From what i've seen Mueller is better than Eddy no question. He has dominated games inculding the 4 goals he posted against WB earlier this year. Eddy has a better team around him but overall Mueller is the better player.
I believe the Raiders were pretty dominant in the first period, but were totally shut down in the 2nd and 3rd. Capistrant was effective, but Mueller might as well have stayed home. He was not a presence on the ice at all last night. I have been less than impressed the 3 times I saw him play.
The Royals, once again, found a way to win and that, my friend, is the mark of a true team.

Mueller is the most overrated player in the state once agian Eddy way outplayed him. Good call on the outcome of this one as well.

Yes, Eddy outplayed him when they played each other. But is Mueller the most overrated player in the state just because he didn't light it up when you saw him against Woodbury? No, he is actually probably underrated when it comes to people talking about him.komada77 wrote: Mueller is the most overrated player in the state once agian Eddy way outplayed him. Good point my apologies to Mueller I shouldn't base my judgment on just 2 gamesSECHockeyFan wrote:Yes, Eddy outplayed him when they played each other. Woodbury is an excellant team and there coach is very good. Eddy is an extremely dangerous player who is capabale of doing a lot of damage. Mueller is not overrated and doesnt have a ton of talent to play with. Another kid I like on Woodbury who has helped the cause by his return is Dane Erickson. He is a very good player in both ends of the ice and his return adds a dimension that helps Woodbury and Eddy.
