Agreed, however, I thought maybe the names of the players were not to be used for the youth teams due to their age. At least this player was being talked about in a positive, although unique way.
In one of those "best" polls, a player was getting pummeled and his name was being thrown around by some of the "kids" responding. I thought that was "off limits"; no naming of players in a negative way.

That's right coach!!!! let's keep this civil and give me some scores.
Good job at the Chi-Town Shuffle by the Icemen, some very good teams at that tourney. Icemen looked very good against some teams that have been playing together for a few years. Even scored 1 of the 2 goals against the powerhouse tourney champs Alberta Wolves. Keep up the good work coach.

For those interested - the results from the ChiTown Shuffle from this past weekend are posted. Icemen went 3 and 2 over the weekend.
Went 2 and 1 in pool play but was seeded 4th due to the smallest goal differential...had to play the #1 seed from the other pool (Detroit Honeybaked Ham). Icemen took a 1 - 0 lead into second but after a couple of interesting circumstances, Honeybaked capitalized and scored 3 in the second. Icemen dominated the 3rd but found the post twice and lost 3 - 1 in a fun game to watch.
The Alberta Wolves were very, very good and were in a class by themselves. Detroit Honeybaked was a step better than Icemen. Chicago Mission, Detroit Compuware, Florida Everblades and Icemen were in the next tier of teams with any team beating the other on any given day.
You can look at the results and come to your own conclusions as to which teams had a tough time competeing.

Watchdog:
I have to disgree with you about Waylon's comment. It is not okay to use kids names, even in the positive. In this case, it puts a lot of responsibility on the 10-y.o. goalie if the 98 Machine does not "own" the 98 Blades. The 98 Blades are a good team and about even with the 98 Machine.
The earlier stuff (not Waylon's) about the GR PW goalie was brutal. It is unrealisitic to pretend that kids don't see or talk about this site.
I still think the kid's name should be deleted. I also think that if you won't say it to his face you shouldn't say it here.
Here are some scores, just to keep it civil. I am not sure if they are exact, as reports differ:
97 Icemen 1 97 Machine 5
95 Icemen 3 95 Blades 7

Excellent 98 evaluation Gilmour, Wolves were very impressive.
Icemen continue to improve at a very fast rate. I was also impressed with the Florida Everblades (coached by former Pro Ken Schinkel), some very speedy players that give credit to roller hockey.
As for the Wisconsin teams, Flames are very skilled but have a few player that decided to try and score on their own. Capitols looked much better Saturday with 3-1 loss to Everblades and 6 - 4 win over Admirals. Admirals actually looked good, just need some more shots on goal.
In the 96 division Wisc. Jr Badger won it, Midwest Wild and LA Selects were awesome teams to watch play. Would have been nice to see the 96 Icemen.

I did not see it but I heard the Florida Everblades and the Chicago Mission had a fight on the ice...one player ejected, another player give a 10 minute misconduct and four players from both teams were sent to the box...it got even better when they started making slitting of the throat gestures to each other...the ref did not see any of the additional stuff...have to say this behavior starts with the coaches...saw the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals lose their cool and a player punched one of the Icemen kids in the hand shake line...again, starts with the coaches.
Got a kick out of the Florida parents calling their own kids "little explative" and one of the Florida coaches looked like he was going to have a heart attack after giving up a one goal lead to Compuware with a minute left in the quarter finals.
No doubt that the amount of $ these teams require to play at the top level the intensity goes way up and things get heated...plus, they serve beer in the arena so you can fill in the blanks from there.
With all of this said, the tournament is well run, great teams and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I saw that Florida vs Mission game, refs let game get out of hand, should have blown the whistle earlier in the game. Punches thrown, lots of yelling, gestures etc. The refs may have been caught off guard with the nastiness of this game since most the other games (including the 96 games) were well played.
You are right, coaches need to be held accountable, I would bet that the misbehaving players were the offspring of the misbehaving parents in the stand. That Everblade coach going nuts on the bench was not Ken Schinkel.
I did notice that both Everblades vs Capitols and Mission vs Honeybaked games were very good hockey games, so both coaches may have tightened the reins and stopped their players from gooning it up.
I agree, the tournament was very well run with some very good hockey.

Shouldn't the Blades team be practising for the upcoming "Invite" or is that one in the bag?
Go Deuce and Easton teams

96 icemen and 96 blades have scrimmaged once and it ended in a 5-5 tie, both teams need some fine tuning. Don't believe blades had full roster, not sure on icemen. Sometime in may will be another between the teams.
What's the deal there?Really Shocked I understand there was plenty of talk about the '98 Jr Badgers ( with some riding the pine ) "owning" last weekends Meltdown, with the help of some Blades players. Now, that doesn't sound very "sporting" to the other young '98 teams does it. Wink

good luck in the tourney.[/quote]
I saw what I think was a 97 Easton team play recently and they were excellent, for what it's worth.

That was the major rumor going around. That's why the Showcase program says they are for fan use only, not to be confused with the submitted rosters.puckfan wrote:What's the deal there?Really Shocked I understand there was plenty of talk about the '98 Jr Badgers ( with some riding the pine ) "owning" last weekends Meltdown, with the help of some Blades players. the jr. badger players with their names on their jerseys did miss a lot more shifts than the players who shall remain nameless because they didn't have their names on their jerseys. (including the goalie). It was said that they came in decked out in Edina gear from head to toe. The nameless kids skipped the night game (might have had a Blades practice

I guess, even in Edina, you can never have too many trophies....

Jr. Badgers
That's weird. Open tryouts? Ringers?
At the 1994 level the Jr. Badgers finished 12th out of 12 teams. I guess that's one way for the younger levels to improve on their finish.
What is the url for the Jr. Badgers Web site?
