East has held Wayzata and Minnetonka, two pretty decent teams, 0-for-15 on power plays. That's bordering on ridiculous.
They play a very aggressive penalty kill... Tonka had very few shots on the powerplay.
They did a great job killing the penalties against tonka, but centennial has a very high powered offense, scoring 15 goals tonight even if it was against Coon Rapids, so East will have to stay out of the penalty box.

Any more details?

I was not able to see the game tonight. Anybody have any more deatils?

A 2-0 score can be domination, or a really close game.

Did East dominate? Was it close and the pucks just went the right way? Shots? Who won physical play... etc? Did Tonka get a sniff?

Thanks for any deatils.

The Hounds didn't look so good tonight, it was a little sloppy. They need to start playing with a little more discipline. To many bad penalties (IMO). If it wasn't for Cooper making numerous saves I think the Hounds have their first loss. Thankfully that wasn't the case.

If they don't reel in the trips to the box they will be in big trouble as team start to get their power plays rolling.

I attended this game. The first thing I was surprised about is how big and new the facility is and that there is only one sheet of ice. What is on the left side of the building?

It was cool to see both of these teams play. East was definitely the better team on the ice, but Tonka's goalie played a great game and if it wasn't for Cooper and East's D, this would've been a much closer game.

Not sure what you mean by "bad penalties" but I was surprised by how much wasn't called. Both teams were doing some very shady things I was unimpressed by. There were two 10 minute majors this game, Tonka had one, East had the other. People starting fights after the whistle for no reason, lots of checking from behind, punching in the head for no reason. Sure, "this is hockey" but that stuff is terrible. I was surprised with how much the refs "let them play last night. Then in the last five minutes of the game, Tonka ended up with a 5 on 3 including East with a 10 minute major. Instead of playing more aggressive hockey, they (East) resorted to fighting. Class is one thing they definitely lack in my opinion.

Tonka is a very young team, a freshman, many sophomores and juniors and only 5 seniors. Only graduating one starter. They should only get better this year and be a great team next year.

East is very talented. They are definitely a top 10 team, maybe 5 if they can stay out of the box, but not #2 or #1 for sure. Right now they are the only thing holding them back. If they can grow up, play more hockey, not fight so much and stay out of the box, they will really be a force to reckon with in the next few months. On penalty kills they didn't seem like they were a man down at all. #15 is a very talented skater and has a lot of potential to be a huge threat in my opinion. If the goalie (Cooper) can keep playing like last night, they will be hard to beat.

Excellent post. One minor thing I'd like to add on the rankings portion. East can't be squeaking 2-0 victories with the help of phenomonal goaltending against Wayzata and Tonka. Don't get me wrong, a couple of good clubs but not powerhouses in the state. So if they wish to make a run in March they need to chill out and just play some puck.

It's too bad they can't be even strength more often, got some serious talent on the squad this year. Maybe Randolph just needs to emphasize discipline a tad more.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.

I wasn't at either game, but anytime you shut a team out you've got to be doing something right. So they've only scored 2 a game the last 2 games. Sounds to me like they need to stay out of the box, they do this and the scores of the games might be 5-0.

The point is that the team that played that night wasn't doing that. Simply put, they aren't a top 5 team right now. Saying "they need to stay out of the box, they do this and the scores of the games might be 5-0" is almost the same as saying "if they were all two inches taller, stronger and faster they'd score more goals."
