You are on of the lucky ones....
Not to sure who you are Elliot. I started in the PR hockey progam the 1st year it was started. It was started by Ted Johnson and Mr Bishop that takes us back to the very early 70's I do not ever recall in the last decade hearing your name for squirts as I coached a squirt team there in the late 70's and the District set ALL OUR GAMES UP. we set our own scrimmages up and so on. PR is one of the late comers to High School Hockey and have do a good job with there program. So who ever you are I need to know more about who you worked with from PR for the squirt program before I can believe any part of that. I moved to the Cities in 89 I still have family that is involved with PR hockey

Jerry, I have no idea who you are but since you moved to the cities in 1989, you were not in the area. I worked with
Bagley, Bemidji, Park Rapids & Walker in the mid-to late 90's with a squirt house league.
But seeing you are new here you can easily find me (my name is elliott and I can be found at minnesotahockey.org - look under board -
D16.
Or ask some of the PR posters here or administrator Lee, if you really need to know who I am.

The 1 thing I find more hilarious than anything is that Northern Lakes is AA and Warroad isn't.

PR will get respect when they earn it. Elliott picks them to lose every game out of humor. Who cares.

Warroad enrollment - 386
Northern Lakes coop enrollment - 1591

It's their decision. Live with it.

I know what you're saying. Roseau had the grapes. There's nothing you can do about it though, deal with it. Some people prefer to dominate at the D2 level forever. I wish we had the 16 district system, but we don't. I hope down the road teams like Warroad, TRF and EGF make the jump. But I have a feeling they won't unless it becomes mandatory.

Just think, if everyone opted up we would have a one class state tournament again.

Sounds good to me. I know it may never happen, but that's what I would like to see some day, 16 sections, 1 state tourney, everyone has a shot.

For whatever reason, I designed a scenario last year around tourney time in which we would have a 16-team, 1-class tournament:

I'll let you draw your own conclusions on whether it would be better than what we have or not; I came to mine after putting this together, and posted it near the end of the thread.

Yeah, enrollment means so much, ya know? It's a bush league decision. If I grew up in Warroad and I didn't get to play against Moorhead and Roseau to go to State I would be pissed. You play them consistently and competitively during the regular season and at every level of hockey for years but you duck and dodge them in the High School hockey playoffs? What a crock. I would transfer to Roseau.

I love to read these blogs and learn alot from them about teams I normaly don't follow but why is it every time Park Rapids is involved it becomes an issue of self esteem? Thanks, Elliot for an honest, educated opinion. And Park Rapids fans? Luv your passion.

The point I am trying to make is that they have the right to be in class A. No matter how ridiculous we think it may be. There's nothing we can about it. They're not the only team in class A who needs to make the jump. I'd put area teams like TRF and EGF in the same category as Warroad.

Of course they have the right to be in Class A. They also have the right to be called cowards.

That being said, TRF and EGF are nowhere near Warroad. They have a presence that you don't get with the other 2.

Agreed. I honestly don't know why they haven't moved up with all their success since the Tier I/II experiment. They would do more than alright in 8AA.
