Just to clarify things, Mausolf was in the lineup against both Hibbing and Virginia when Marshall played them this year, although he only played the first period against Hibbing before he took the misconduct penalty that eventually led to him taking a few games off. He scored in the first and third periods against Virginia, so it won't be anything new having him in the lineup against them.
Yeah, but I think he has been a real big spark for them lately. I don't know how he did against SCC but before that he was playing well. Just a prediction.
he has 9 points in the last 6 games back that he has played. that is a spark and now they just need the rest of the team to step up,including paul. mausolf ony played ONE period against hibbing beforing missing 16 games after that, and against virgina marshall let all of their goals in during the first period. if there was another min of the game, i think marshall could have made the ending a different story.

In the Hibbing vs. Falls game its going to be goaltending and I really don't know what to think yet. The only optimism I have for Hibbing is they played a bad game in Falls and only lost 4-3 or whatever it was. So if they play even an average game with Tromp playing better they should win. Should be exciting semi finals.
The only reason it was a 4-3 game was because Hart let in a couple weak ones in the third which was pretty much what ended his season

Well Hibbing's goalie let in two weak one's as well. So it can go either way. Falls played there tails off that game and still came away with a 4-3 win. Hibbing was sloppy for the majority of that game but hung around and in the third made an attempt at a comeback and pretty much dominated play for the last 10 minutes.

i don't know how you can say they dominated the third period. Sure they started a come back but that third period was even but i might give a slight edge to hibbing but no where near dominating. You never seem to give the falls credit. When you say they will get beat they end up winning the game and all you have to say is they got lucky or the other team played bad. You really need to start giving the falls the credit they deserve

I'm taking Virginia, the most underrated team in the state.

I watched Cathedral put a whooopin' on the hilltoppers, how in the world did they beat STA??

bluelineenvy......any team can beat any team on any given night...it all depends on who shows up to play 51 minutes of hockey

I wouldnt say Virginia is underrated either, i can guarantee tho if hibbing and virginia meet up again, there will be no 7-1 score

I never recall saying Falls was lucky with one of there wins. I'm just talking about the Hibbing game where they played average and still almost one. Falls played there rear's off that game and I give them credit. When Falls makes a state tourney or starts making annual trips to the DECC then I'll start giving them credit. I don't remember the last time Falls has even been to a section final. Once they get there I'll give them all the credit in the world so until then I will remain critical because time and time again they find a way to lose in the playoffs.

Two things stick out for me; first, how close the top four seeds are in this section. It's too bad their semifinals are on the same day as the 7AA semis. Also too bad they don't play both semis in Hibbing.

Second, the drop-off from #4 to #5 is huge. Central kept their first game with Marshall close. I can see them repeating the same effort, but not the same result.

well next time you take a trip to the falls make sure you look at the banners we have hanging and the amount of times they won the IRC and the amount of state tournys they have been to because they have more state wins then you and tied for most in the state. The falls as a long tradition of having great hockey teams and alot more then hibbing. When was the last time hibbing was at state? They don't produce teams that are always going to state.

Well the 5-9 teams definitely put up a fight against the 1-4 teams... Top teams 27 Underdogs 1. Silver Bay put up the best fight with a 0-5 loss. Now that the warm up games are over, it's gonna be quite the show to see who comes out on top in this section. I would like to see either I'falls or Hibbing go to the X, too bad they play each other in the semis.

2003 was the last time they were at state I believe. I'm not going to give falls credit because 25 years ago they went to a state tourney. I'm talking about lately and lately they've done nothing. Hibbing has made a trip to the DECC for quite a few years in a row now usually bashing the Bronco's hopes along the way. Congrats 20 years ago you guys could make a state tourney. But in recent times you haven't. Just cause you put out a competitive team doesn't mean you deserve credit. Win and then they'll get the credit they deserve.

2003 I believe was the last state trip for Hibbing. Start winning in present time and you'll get the respect you deserve.
