how in the hell does it work??? the glass breaking??? didnt they have it roped off
a couple players pulled themselves up by the top of the glass and the fans were pushing on the glass.. that combination just busted it a little bit.. the rec center is old but definately not near the worst rink.. the whole place was filled so it was warm in there, the rink managers couldn't open the big door cuz it was too warm outside.

Graham is better than the Rec. They should play the games at the new Graham arena. The only reason they play it at the Rec is that it's bigger, but Graham is a lot nicer.
its brand new! obviously its gonna be nicer... you must have been educated through mayo high school you already get an in town section game so you gotta be selfish and make it a mile away from your house... the lakevilles have to drive down over an hour just to play each other in sections but again they aren't complaining by making 100 dumb topics so it would be great if you could stop making these. YOUR TEAMS SEASON IS OVER! better luck next year
The ice at the Rec Center has not been the same since they upgraded the cooling system about ten years ago. In places along the boards there has been a gap of at least 1 inch in places where they cannot keep ice. Not sure why they have not fixed the problem, I know that they tried once but the ice is still really bad along the boards. Any one who has skated there knows this.

I disagree, yes the graham is nice, but not for the semi finals and finals. It would have been awful to try and watch the Lourdes Red Wing and Century North games at Graham 1 with all of the fans. (Saying 1 because I don't think 4 would bring near the atmosphere as 1 with the seats on one side) The parking at the graham would have been worse than at the rec as well.

thats the problem they make a nice arena and forget to put in seats? what is that
they spent the new rink budget to quick so there was not enough money for two sides.. they spent too much on the lobby and enterence also

if you would have seen those arenas before the addition you would have known that money was very well spent on the lobby and entrance
Who Cares about a lobby and enterence! They shoulda made the new graham bigger! the county and hockey had the money they just wasted it on little things but i think it woulda been a better investment if they woulda made the new graham just a tad bigger

What're the little things that money was wasted on? I'm not sure there are any frills in the new rink- don't see a dryland space, training room or things like that. What do you see that I'm missing? Some little things-the locker rooms are bigger than the other rinks and there's a pair of bathrooms shared between the lockers. Its nice to finally have a real concession stand. Heard the tile was done by the contractor to cover up vandalism damage. I don't do construction but my guess is that the majority of the dollars go to roof trusses, concrete, re-bar and the cooling plant. If there was seating on the other side they'd probably pay much more for the roof system. The East side seats were added to the Rec Center 10 or more years after it was built so maybe Graham has an expansion plan. I do a breakfast club and according to one of the public utility guys there was a power failure the day of the Lourdes 1A game. The clock on the South end was about an hour behind. That can't be good on a playoff date-had to be the arena manager's nightmare coming true.

How n so does like everyone else who commented in this.......n most of em r not the best.....
They should move it to the new Dakotah Ice Center. My kid played their 3A semi final game there. That place is soooo neat. No matter where you sit its a great view. Bleachers i guess have infloor heat. I hope they move the 3A game there next year again too. Hands down one of the better rinks in the state.

Isnt that in Prior Lake? A little far for section 1 and it only seats 900. I dont think so.

Rinkfinder shows it seating 1500. Personal I think that number is a little low. That place is huge. I'm not a 100% sure who all is in this section but I think that if Rochester is in it don't you think they would play section games at a natural site. Pretty sure Lakeville is in this section and they have to drive all the way down there. Why not change it every couple of years and make to south teams dive north for once. Don't quote me on that cause like I said I'm not totally sure who is all in your section.

No offense to you, this is not a attack at you, just a time to state my opinion,
I hate when the city teams whine about driving to Rochester, do you know how many times in youth hockey Rochester teams have gone to to the city's to play a game? I have gone as far as WBL, Roseville, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, that is over 4 hours of driving on a school night once you add in rush hour, I just think the placement of section 1AA is correct, 3 Rochester schools, owatonna,(45mins) Winona (45mins) Austin (30mins) and the North and South, which is an hour? maybe hour ten?
Like i said this is not an attack at you, but i think that when the city people say how its unfair to drive to rochester, they are acting snobs...
So....play them at Minnesota State-Mankato. Win/Win for everyone.
That ice is worse than the rec center, and it wouldn't ever get filled, so the atmosphere would not be there, i just think Rochester is a good central location for all the schools, plus with 3 teams in the town, it makes sense..
Well if we want get absurd...how about if all the youth organizations and high schools chip in and build a 2000 seat facilty in Cannon Falls. Central to any and all potential Section 1 teams. 40-45 minutes North of Rochester, 30 minutes South of Lakeville, probably less than 30 for Farmington and Northfield. A longer drive for the Mankato teams but then it would be neutral (or was that natural? ). Sending Winona, LaCrescent, Rochester or Dodge County to Mankato on hiway 14 (most dangerous in Minnesota) is an accident waiting to happen.
