Greatly appreciate all the personal experiences and input guys. It's tough to figure it all out and I think many players miss out on opportunities because they don't even know they exist. With the economy and family budgets though, it's also tough to go to everything you're invited to, not knowing which are just money makers and which could possibly open doors in the future.

We are still learning as we go like all other parents but we have spent far more than planned so if you ever have questions ask! Use these forums and you can tell who knows what. Your Select coaches have a good idea of the process as well, tap your resources use the net. I know that several USHL teams host a prospecst camp in Vegas and it's for 90-95. That is something we just found out about because he was invited and would have used it had we known. Coaches from different teams USHL/NAHL/D1's are there to coach and check out the players. Canada same thing.
What I would do different, I would have kept up with the U15-17 teams. He did one year and made it to the second round. The best thing he did was Elite 1's. He was invited to Elite 2 tryouts but at the time we heard it was political and not worth the money and we could not afford AAA teams and all that. Elite 1's he was a walkon...based on his ability as a player and I can honestly say that it would not be political because he had not been in the big circle...he's always been on the outside. It was 8 weekends of travel but so well worth the hockey. Elites is my suggestion!
