I was just kidding--apparently a blind carpenter hits a nail on the head once in a while.

If your alleging someone in Hopkins is trying to build a "super team", your 100% false. I know the stories of the girls listed above and none were recruited by anyone from the HS program, but I think all knows at least one Hopkins player from off season camps or teams. Yes we will have kids disappointed in tryouts, same as everywhere and everyyear.

Doc, was this girl cut to JV last year or told to leave the program? Is she now in Elite 1, 2, or the OS league? Its hard to believe a girl who is potentially Div 1 was kicked out of a HS program for a unknown non hockey reason and is now under the radar of all the places a college coach would look (not much exposure at batam practices)? There are other non HS options such as the Thoroughbreds but if she is that good and has that D1 ambition her future might be at another HS.

You really can’t rip 3rd in sections if your talking HM. They were behind RV and SW in what I think was the toughest section tourney last year, probably this year as well. RV or HM may have been the state champs had they won the section. HM may have been a bit challenged on goal scoring last year but there were no HM JVers I saw (we played them at Abra) that would have changed that. Although some good young ones that may make a difference in a couple years.

I, for one, am not accusing Hopkins of recruiting and building their team. From your previous post, there is much to be admired about Hopkins HS, including the girls hockey program. It just that one or a few teams turn into the fashionable team to transfer in and make it a super team. The responsibility for a super team being constructed lies mostly with the parents of the transfers.

And while some of us are irritated by transfers leading to super teams, I'd think as a parent of Hopkins girls hockey, you'd be somewhat saddened, if not irritated, by transfers pushing 5 or more Hopkins-grown hockey players off the varsity team after committing years to the sport. I won't try to tell you how you should feel about it. I'm just hoping you'd understand the frustrations of the 98% of hockey parents whose daughter isn't on a girls hockey super team.

Of course girls are being asked to switch schools. As a parent at WBL we lose girls all the time. Who cares! Just don't tell everyone it's to give the girls a better education. Be honest with why your switching or don't say anything at all. Hopkins has a great coach and CP is great for getting girls to the next level. If I could afford it my daughter would be playing for Hopkins. Kidding of course.

There should never be problem with someone enrolling as a 9th grader.

I think we all want better competition. I'm more troubled by not trying to get the best 8 teams to state. I just can't let it go. Sorry! :)

Royals thanks HM is a good program and Hopkins is a good program. Good programs and good schools attract players - the opposite is true for weaker programs. Compared to many HS in metro or state HM has grown and has had the benefit of Varsity and JV with alot of gilrs wanting to play there 28 '06 (girls like one listed recruited to be first time players - no hockey background) 34 '07 (no cuts), 51 '08 (first cuts), 36 '09 (some players who can go back to U14 if needed). HM is a good program and good school - they have 5 dedicated coaches who know the game and played the game - 2 were D1 Woman players who are very involved in giving back to the game. Kids and parents move and look for different things I wish the kids at Hopkins good luck they made a big decision and talking to a few people this was a case of not recruiting - the kids have traded up on schools, coaching and teams but it is a huge change to switch - I think Cara Johnson's little sister is only a 9th grader so open enrolled not an issue under rules.

HM is maybe down 75-100 over all students - economy/job loss and the new East Ridge HS in Woodbury I am guessing all have had impact.

Last Doc's daughter loves the game and is a great kid her parents are good people and like all of us want the best. It is fun to see the player pursue her desire to get better and stay in the game - she has really improved. As hockey parents we all want what is best for our kids. I wish her the very best - she is a smart young woman and with her determination will serve her well in life.

Who are you? Have we ever met? I'm pretty sure that you don't know any of my daughters. We don't take part in any hockey camps so I wouldn't have met you there? I'm sure you wouldn't have met me when we played Hill Murray because my both my daughters didn't do anything exceptional (except being my daughters make them exceptional to me). Have you or your or children had chiropractic care recently? I may have unknowingly treated you. I was at the gym this morning, were you the guy who didn’t wipe off the bike after using it this morning? All Joking aside, I doubt that Joe Hockey even knows me or my daughters. Apparently he has me confused for someone else because my daughters don’t travel in the same crowd as his family.

Maybe joehockey has a daughter who plays for HM. And maybe his daughter is going D1. Just a hunch.
