I am a scout, college coach, and part of USA Women's hockey. Scouts don't give much credit to statistics. One goalie can have several shots from break aways, 5 on 3 penalty kills. While another faces outside shots the entire game. yet, both those stats are the same!?
Goalies are evaluated on athleticism, quickness, and technique. There are several nationally ranked goalies from Minnesota. The top three are:
Laden Lakeville
Billadeau Hopkins
Turner Duluth
Goalie Amsley-Benzie from Warroad's "Streak"
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
Can you give us the nationally ranked forwards and defenseman from MN too?Hockeyscout777 wrote:I am a scout, college coach, and part of USA Women's hockey. Very true on the stats that do not tell the whole story, These are just some of the good goalies out there and some these have very good teams or D's in front of them.

Well if you have been able to scout all of these goalies, what was your impression on the young Warroad netminder? As high on her as UND and other programs are/were?Hockeyscout777 wrote:I am a scout, college coach, and part of USA Women's hockey. Scouts don't give much credit to statistics. Say what you want about Warroad moving up, but they are a small school playing where the MSHSL league said they should. Yes they will run the score up on a team that can't stop them, and that is sad. Maybe some of those schools just shouldn't schedule them.

Yep DL shouldn't demand or have to play Bemidji just because they are in the same conference. I wasn't there but I was told by one of the HS coaches that Bemidji 14U could have beaten DL in running time. On the flip side, DL and Bemidji met in a 12U game and tied 4-4 last Friday, so maybe things are looking up for the Lakers.
