keepyourheadup wrote:Well it only took 7 posts to get to the obligatory 1AA bashing. My over under was 5 posts. For the record, you're right they would have been a 5 seed or lower in 6AA, the same thing could be said for the 1 seeds in a couple other sections.
I don't think this is a 1AA bashing, but more the fact that Lakevilles are in 1AA. I too have to agree that they should be considered a metro team and move out of 1AA, but then there are not enough teams in 1AA. Not much we can do but wish them good luck and we will see one of you at the X.

Like many other programs, both Lakeville schools have lost some players to privates that would have been major parts of their respective teams. The goalie in Ann Arbor and the second line at STA would certainly put South in a much stronger position. I know this happens to most everyone....how good would EP, Wayzata, or Chaska be with all their youth players?.... but it makes you wonder what if? As it is, the two schools find theselves in a position to make a trip to the big show due to a system that favors them.

Good for you. I am sure 1AA feels the same way about you!

If I had one wish, it would be that the 1AA representative plays the 6AA or 2AA rep and upsets them. Then I am sure you all will be calling for a double elimination tournament to ensure the top rated teams meet in the championship.

Century vs HM...2007...OT...upset.....sure it was one game and one year...but nothing was better than seeing all the HM fans at a loss of words.....1AA/A has some good players, just not the depth and selection that the higher enrollment schools have, plus their choice of schools are limited (1 private in Rochester, where the cities has AHA, STA, HM, CDH ect..) and their youth program gets split up, not making an excuse...the city people should aculty embrace the push to get 3-4 youth programs becuase then they can see better hockey from Rochester in years to come :D

If you were to classify Lakeville South as a metro team and start labeling teams where they come from geographically then we better start having two different state tourney's. One from the metro and the other outstate. I like the fact that we have two metro teams in the section as we have to beat the metro teams to get anywhere anyway. Same for football Mayo played Hopkins there first game of the season last year and it was a game unitl the second half when Hopkins blew up. My point is that if teams down here in 5AAAAA football want to get anywhere they have to play teams they will eventually meet deep in the playoffs which inevitably are the metro teams. Yea just like in football the hockey teams take a beating to, but what are you going to do have Lakeville join there counterparts up there and have the disparity. I think more of the outersuburbs should be placed in outstate sections such as burnsville and so forth. Then it is up to the oustate teams to find a way to compete against them.

Very clever Dos. I wish I had the ability to come up with witty posts like you! As mentioned in a previous post, Century over Hill in 07'. That was the last Hill saw of the X for that tournament!

hill is also a private school who i could care less about

but..
of course upsets "can" happen but how often do you see the #1 and #2 seeds getting knocked off first round every year? or do you see teams like lakeville every year never getting any tv time?

Personally I would rather not see average teams like lakeville stroll through a weak section ex. Roseau 2008 (very overated team, i was suprised they won a game at state before they got manhandled twice) and basically give teams a bye in the first round of state but what are you going to do? Its going to happen every year, and i will always be annoyed that some section tournaments are better than state but hey tickets are cheaper

I believe seeding the top four teams begain three years ago. Since that time, the ranked teams are 7-5 in the first round. You're right though, upsets never happen. And you obviously have not seen Lakeville South this year. They aren't in EP or Tonka's class but they have some young talent that is fun to watch, and will be fun to watch at state for the next three years.

a bye? Sure, I agree that Lakeville North would be a bye but Lakeville South has a good team! They have a very good offense averaging 5 goals a game with a soph, soph, freshman line that is one of the top lines in the state and will have a 19-9 record heading into state against very tough lake conference schedule. I really don't see why anyone would complain that they are not worthy. I don't think they will win state but I know they will give who ever they play a run for there money and may be able to pull off an upset. Its always fun to have a dark horse in the tournament that has flown under the radar most of the year that can surprise someone at the end!

i didnt say upsets can't happen, i did say that #1 and #2 teams dont get knocked off first round every year, not all seeded in state.

and yes we will see lakeville south / north / century in the tourney the next few years. who else would go in that section?

It would be great for them to hold their own in the tourney but i just dont see that happening especially if they get matched up against tonka / ep first round no one likes to see blowouts in the state tournament ...unless its a private school or roseau

No, we will not see North, Century or South. We WILL see South, assuming none of their young guns leave early. South will not be an easy victory this year and they return all of their firepower for the next three years.

Part of me wants to see North win and get Jefferson in the quarters. That way it can be talked about that whole day about how the dog sh** section 1 representative was undefeated vs the mighty Jefferson this year. All the complaining about how poor section 1 is and how great section 2 and 6 are just makes me want to see 6 and 2 face off in the consolation championship over at the U on Sat morning. That would hopefully shut some people up.

It would, too bad it will only happen in your dreams. Does this mean when the section 1 representative loses at state and sections 2 and 6 meet in the final you'll shut up then? Not 1 team in section 1 is even ranked in the top 20, why can't you just accept the section sucks and doesn't deserve to be playing anymore?

didnt anybody tell this dumb@ss rankings don't matter in post season. Just win 6 games and you are champs. Lose any one game and you are not champs. Probably going to happen to Roseauoverated team

We're offically there now, thanks roseauverrated you've proven me right. Section 1 should cancel their playoff and we will allow you and fellow experts determine who should play.

While I do wish they'd do something small to make 1AA a little stronger, let's give Lakeville South some credit. I didn't rank them 16th in my last set of rankings out of charity. Their regular season achievements are just as good as, if not better than, the teams that will come out of sections 8 and 3; maybe section 4 if Hill gets upset.

There is a legit team in 1AA this year. Only one, but one nonetheless. It's a shame they aren't getting much recognition for that.

Imagine if they had pulled an Eden Prairie and kept one high school despite all conventional wisdom, they would be a powerhouse.
Imagine a world...with no Wisconsin
