UMMMM.....Pretty sure the kid who is minus -11 is still going to feel like he didn't do very well. Numbers don't mean anything until you get to the real world anyway.dirtracing17 wrote:after a team has a seven goal lead. no more points or goals can be counted. score as many as you want but they wont be counted
six goal lead is enough for a coach to tell his team to calm down, but some coaches are different.Gov78 wrote:Puleeze... 6 goal lead in 3rd works 99% of time. the virginia team scored a total of 56(i think) points that night. thats what my idea is for. so a team cant try to break records and rack up points. im pretty sure nobody would like to loose by 22 goals.wingmaster wrote:UMMMM.....Pretty sure the kid who is minus -11 is still going to feel like he didn't do very well. agreed, there is nothing more embarrising than not counting goals anymore. At least with the running time, the losing team still has a chance to come back (i'm sure it's been done) but to quit calling goals means you've completely given up on the game, they might as well go home.Gov78 wrote:Puleeze... 6 goal lead in 3rd works 99% of time. im pretty sure calling a game wont happen. you play hockey cause you like the game. i know if i was on the loosing team, id want to keep playing. let them score as many as it takes for them to feel accomplished, just wont countgatzke wrote:agreed, there is nothing more embarrising than not counting goals anymore. I think if they were to do a 10+ goal rule in the 3rd period, the refs should talk to each coach after the 10th goal and the coaches decide if they want to call it, or if they want to get more experience for their 4th liners
agree 100%. i lost by 20 many times... that doesn't mean i gave up and didn't want to play. yes, i was sad after but atleast i got to play the greatest sport in the worldhawkhockey wrote:Let kids play the game. I've never been a fan of the run time rule. And don't try to pull the "its embarrassing for the losing team and they just want the game to be over." i've been on that side before all the way up to bantams and honestly i just wanted to play the game. at a certain point it doesnt become about the scorebord, i would just go out there and try to win the battle because at least i could be proud about that. As soon as you get to run time it just feels worse because it says you aren't worth the full time to play the entire game. In my opinion thats more degrading than the final score.TuckerMax93 wrote:There already is a mercy rule. If a team is leading by 6 or more goals in the third period there will be running time until the deficit is less than 6 goals.bronx18 wrote:After the recent 22-0 win for Virginia against Silver Bay, many people seemed to be upset by such the huge deficit. Do you think there should be a mercy rule enforced? If so, by what score? If not, why?[/img]
Should that rule be extended to the second period? I.e. If a team is winning by 8 goals in the second should the clock start running?
what team wouldnt have played d? your up by 3. why push your luck and create chances for the other teams? do you stalk everyone like you do hibbing peoplemr. plow wrote:dirtracing if what your saying is true how come virginia didnt try to rack up more goals against hibbing in the 3 to 0 win they sat back and played d for the 3rd period
