What happened to East? It is not that hard to figure out. East out shot Grand Rapids by about 38 to 17 Sheppard is a very good goalie and he was on today and he won the game. Today the better team won.

i was at this game both teams played well and yes GRs goalie played very good. But Grand rapids had 8 penalties to duluths 3 and east only scored on one so thats where most of there shots came from i would have to say grand rapids also had a goal called back and then had a penalty called on them instead after it was a very very godd bantam A hockey game to watch!

Holy cow I did not expect this at all. I saw the East team back in November when they came through town and thought even though they were not as deep as last years team still had enough at the forward positions to get past Grand Rapids come region time. Guess my observation was wrong on this and sounds like Grand Rapids got the great goal tending and timely goals. Nice to see!!

Not real shocking.. Rapids played East tough all year. East got out skated, out hit and out hearted. Rapids looked very very good. Potential for the championship.

Cloquet will be a longshot at the tourny, but is not a team that should be overlooked. Good speed, excellent team play and solid goal tending. and remember that they beat both East and GR last weekend. These were the two best teams today.
Are you sure about Cloquet beating East and GR ?? Don't think so. It's to bad the 2 best didn't come out of the North.

Great game by GR vs East in Proctor yesterday. GR overcame every obstacle and played a solid game together. I wouldn't read too much into the shots on goal. Very inaccurate in my opinion. The game was evenly played both ways. GR would dominate for stretches, then East would. GR won the game with goaltending and defense as many of the East shots were from way out, and the close ones were snuffed out with great saves or defenseman blocking the second chance shots. Was fun to witness the togetherness of this team. Great job, GR!!!

Thanks for the report GR3343. Do you think this team can do some damage down at state? Looks like they have put together a really nice season. Will any of these kids help fill positions lost due to graduation up at the Varsity level next season?

After watching this team several times this season, they most definitely can make a statement in Richfield. Remember, this is basically the same group that took second to Edina as Pee Wees. As for those moving up and helping at the varsity level, I would expect that you'd see #13 and # 14 making significant contributions for the orange and black next season. I hope the "together" bond carries through their high school years. It was a pleasure to watch them carry each other throughout, and as the last seconds ticked off the clock(twice  )the players were geniunely happy for each other and it showed. I was also happy to see the support as many without players on the team made the trip to support the orange and black. These players were and are looked up to by the younger GR players in the system. My little guy was in awe as he watched some of his "heros" earn their right to the state tournament and was one of the first to run down near the locker room to high five the boys on their way in. That's how pride in your colors, your team and your town begins. Was a great thing to watch. wishing them the best of luck at state!
