I mentioned it because the goalie is a freshman stepping into Varsity play this year after playing U14A last year. I think it is a nice accomplishment for her and wanted to note it.

I also disagree with this--a lot of goalies let their attention wander when the play is never in their end and give up an easy one. And especially a freshman to get a couple wins early in the season is a good boost to the confidence. And nothing is insignificant to freshmen learning the ropes of a varsity team. All goalies and all freshmen in general need a confidence boost at this time of year. So congratulations to Ms. Hall.

I disagree, a shutout is a shutout, and sometimes the ones with fewer shots are more difficult.
I suppose staying awake between shots could be a challenge. LoL
A game that one sided, I assume there weren't many challenging shots. It is still a goose egg, I wouldn't be too excited about it. Thats all

I would concur that an 8 save contest is nothing to get excited about… that is unless you’re from WB. The team unexpectedly lost their senior (two year starter) and junior goalies prior to the start of the season. So having a freshman net minder step up and play well is at the very least …grounds for optimism. More impressive was her near shut out of Grand Rapids the night before. The lone goal allowed was a wide shot deflection from the point. (just to put it in perspective…the next day one of Roseville’s highly touted goalies allowed 2 Lightning goals on roughly the same shot total)

The first half of the game was quite competitive, both sides scored quickly, and it was 2-2 for a bit. Stillwater seemed to wear them down, and kicked it open in the second.

Hill-Murray 3
Stillwater 2

Great game- Stillwater was down 2-0 in third, came back and tied it only to give up a goal with 1:30 left to lose. Stillwater outshot Hill 23-13 and hand lots of opportunities especially in the 3rd period.
