Coming from someone that attended his first Gophers game in 1972, why?

I was at the game. . The refs did blow some calls during the game, an obvious head contact (distinct sound) got missed during the game, Shakopee kid had to go to the hospital to get his chin stitched up. Not that the game was a blowout, but not sure I agree with having the top PP unit on the ice at the end of the game up 3 goals on a 5 on 3.

The brawl happened after the final horn. The Holy Angels players left the bench first, then some of the cavalry from Shakopee came in. The video distinctly showed this. The Holy Angels goalie got into it, as did several of their players. For whoever put that it was 18 on 5, I'd like to know how you balance your checkbook as your math is horrible. Also, 5-7 players beating on precious #16 is also an exaggeration. The Shakopee players would not have left the bench for the scrum had the Holy Angels players not gone into it first, and that is a fact.

I am by no means promoting it at this level but it's a natural thing.

I was at the Moorhead wayzata game.
The fight brewed out of frustration.

It's not the refs fault fights start. They try to break it up and hand out suspensions (Mario Lucia). I think molenaar and sit should have been suspended after the scuffle.
I watched the Edina-Eden Prairie game and the play-by-play guy said that Sit and Molenaar both got game mis-conducts which comes with a one-game suspension. Isn't that true?

Coaches need to take their part in this issue. Teaching self-control should be a part of high school athletics.

It has now been pulled from the archives. Shakopee coaches should be ashamed of the way they handled their team. Coaches did nothing to control their players or to try and stop them from getting involved. Game is over and Shakopee attacks number #16 for Holy Angels in the corner. It ends up being entire Shakopee team against 4 players from Holy Angels. Shakopee had as many as 5 to 7 players pounding on 1 Holy Angels player. What baffles me is many of the Shakopee fans cheered and encouraged the players. The fans cheered for the Shakopee team as they left the ice.

The Shakopee coaches and players are an embarrassment to high school hockey.
I'll start by saying the most accurate account so far was by Zamman and Hrb-Ro. Speed..your version has to be one of the best on here though..And of course I can't leave out the Best in the Bizz who went to see his hometown Sabre's  ..I think you spell it SABERS but then you would know that since they're your hometown team. Funny Zamman didn't mention 5-7 players pounding on #16 and I would think he would have remembered that. The fact that #16 is 6-4 and 215 and Shakopee has one kid at 6'0 185 or so I would guess #16 was real scared when the bench full of 5'8 140 pounders were "pounding" on him. The dad from Holy Angels screaming at the rink attendent (Zamman do they treat you like that?) to "open the doors so they"ll stop" might have been the gem of the night. Did it get rough at the end? Yes it did. Was it the ref's, Shakopee, or HA's fault (the elbow/high sticking penalty with 9 seconds left might have been a little much)..who knows..but like most have said is it really a fight if the cages and gloves are on (and the ref's DIDN'T DQ anyone)? Let's not continue to spin this into more than it was..The biggest HA supporter on here said it best in my opinion!

First of all, you seriously think there is something wrong with a team having their top PP unit out there on a 5 on 3 with with 5 minutes when they are only up by 3? :?:  I don't see where that makes any sense at all. Second, I watched the video out of curiosity and maybe a couple players left the Holy Angels bench, but it looked to me like they were slowly going out there treating it as the end of the game (the buzzer had blown, or atleast it sounds like it in the video). On the other hand, almost the entire Shakopee team came skating full speed onto the ice not bothering to slow down before they engaged in the fight, not to mention their coach as well. The last thing I noticed is a little funny. The video archive of the game was on Shakopee's website yesterday, but it was taken down today. If you do not think they did much wrong, then why do you suppose the video was taken down.

hrbekroenick, easy buddy, we know you are either a parent of a kid on the team, or a kid on the team. Don't act like Shako went just as hard as AHA, the AHA coaches got on the ice and kept almost the entire bench in line. Not the whole bench, but most of it. I hate to say it but it was one of the most disgusting displays of sportsmanship I have ever seen in a HS game! 20 some guys against 8 at best! you have got to be kidding me. You need to get off the board. No one needs to hear you say what didn't happen. And next time, get a little credibility under your belt. 1 post makes me and most people reading this assume you are either on the team, or some relation to it.

I'm not a kid on the team, nor a parent. I have sincere post envy over your 35 posts. I'll really lose sleep over it. The Shakopee kids were the furthest distance from the scrum. What does it look like when the AHA kids went directly toward the scrum first? To the Shakopee kids just stand there? Shakopee had maybe 20 kids dressed. Are you telling me every one including the goalie was in the middle of it? I think not.

I just thought it was weird how literally the whole bench was cleared, and coaches could not hold them off? or even some of them?

I just watched it again. For the record, I counted 8 AHA kids skating into the scrum and 7 Shakopee players of the players that left the bench. You are wrong. Trust me when I say this, if all 20 guys would have wound up in it you'd know it - the goalie would have been throwing them with the best of them. He was at center ice, along with the rest of the team.

You're right then I suppose. I didn't find it anywhere on Holy Angels' site. It was recorded by the Shakopee team at their rink and the entire game was posted on their website. It was taken off today. But back to what I asked you a couple minutes ago.... You said you just watched the video again, where did you see it?

All I hope is that there is some truth and honesty on the forum. I would love to see the video again, so I am curious as to whether he really has it....
