Goldy,

Voltin was a kid that I was really excited about prior to the season. He was a force last year on the JV and I was excited to see how he would be taking that next step. With the experience that this team had returning, he wouldn't be asked to be a major factor. In the beginning of the season, it appeared he was just finding his way and was doing fine. For the past 3-4 weeks he has taken that next step. He is contributing points and his overall game is much stronger. Voltin, LaValle, and Guentzel make up a really strong Soph group of forwards & will be fun to watch them develop over the next couple of years.

I am with you on this one youngblood!
Me too. I couldn't believe the St. Paul paper wasted a front page article on the bus ride to Moorhead. I guess it is called the PIONEER press.
Love it, Body...

What don't you follow my footsteps and trade allegiance and come over with me to the Green and White side? You would look good in a coon skin cap.

Hey, PPG or pioneers or st.paul. (Or any other H-M fan)... How has Luke Voltin looked this year? I saw a bit of the Hockey Day game.. I loved his skill level when watching a couple JV games last year. He could have played WBL varsity as a frosh last year.

Pioneer guy.... I agree with you 100%. Luke Voltin has been solid this year and the pioneers are rolling. I think it's great that HM gets to be in the paper all season and they do it big on the ice by winning the conference and be ranked #1 for the last half of the season. Nothing better then reading posts from Roseville and WBL fans just hopping they can keep the games close in sections.. HAHA

Roseville has played close games against many opponents, but who have they beat. No chance vs Hill, but as was brought up, they would have to get there first. I think the game vs NSP could be a battle. NSP just beat Moundsview 6 - 1, while Roseville tied them twice 3 -3 , ans 2 -2, and lost to Stillwater twice, a team NSP beat 4 - 0. It should be a good game, but nobody's getting by Hill. IMHO

14 games - 113 goals for (8.07 per game) - 16 goals against (1.14 per game) 14 - 0 record

Outside conference vs AA Opponents,
8 games - 26 goals scored (3.25 per game) 20 goals allowed (2.5 per game) 6-2 record.

That accounts for 22 games, I left out Duluth Marshall, Breck and AHA.
 Why did you take them out? Because they hurt your "point." Why don't you just take away ALL games accept for the 2-1 loss they had against EP?

Non conference games with a 3.25 GF and 2.5 GA is still not bad either. Plus they have a 6-2 record NOT including Breck, DM, and AHA. Still a winning record!

HM offense isn't a juggernaut but they do have the weapons to put the puck in the net. That comes from their DEPTH. Defensively they are among the best in the state thanks to their team defensive coverage and goaltending.

Como will not beat them, nor will NSP and Roseville. ONLY WBL and Stilly have a chance.

Lehr is a very talented goalie, but a lack of support from the defense and virtually no offensive help will make NSP a challenge, much less HM. Expect it to be around a 3-2 or 2-1 game in the quarters.

Luke Voltin

Post by stpaul »

Agree with ppg & youwish22. Luke Voltin is the real deal. He reminds me of Mike Hoeffel because of his size and stickhandling. He has been very good the last 1/2 of the season. I saw him score 2 goals against SSP 12 days ago. The sophomores Guentzel, LaValle & Voltin are a big part of this team's success.

So, are you telling us that he is big and slow..... if I'm Voltin, I take this as a cut.

You're right. Guess we'll have to settle for EP making it 3 in a row over your media darlings. :D

I agree with Puck.... lots of jealous on here. Regarding the Luke Voltin comparison to Mike Hoffel. I don't think he would mind being compared to a Gopher captain and four year contributor for the Gophs... good try

I hope all the hill murray kids and coachs have the same mindset of all the people on there bandwagon because it will make the lose so much better...
1. Hills team this year does have depth but lacks the offense of power it has had in the past... NEWS FLASH Nick Lehr single handly shutdown 2 teams with arguably the best offense's in the state in Burnsville and Wayzata....
2. Ive talkd to many people that have been going to hill games for years... across the board this is there weakest offense of team in a while quite frankly i dont think it can compare to WBL.. COUGH Mac Jansen 33 goals COUGH Brandon Wahlin 48 points (and they didnt play sibley, simley, richfield TWICE LMAO)

Thanks PPG and others.. He was 5'11" as a frosh and handled himself so well.. He was a little selfish the first couple games I saw, but after I told the WBL JV coach Ben Butters to focus on him, he did nothing against WBL. However, I was told he was fluish that day.

Jake Guentzel is turnring out to be a good story. Ran into his dad after Neb-Omaha swept the Gophs and we were taling about him. His dad was a little concerned on how he would fit in at the HS program, because he is on the frail side, but it looks like he's been racking up points.

I may have to go watch Sat.

iLLuminati_666 - What team do you cheer for? Or are you one of those folks that will cheer for any team that plays HM???

Let's go NSP, take it to the Raiders and give some credit to the Classic Suburban.

WOW is that ever a link appropriate to the thread hahahaha!
Someone should impose a Roseville jersey onto Carey to make it look like he's wearing one, but I'm not sure if that's even possible lol.

I'm REALLY surprised that no one thinks Roseville could beat Hill. This is high school hockey we're talking people, these aren't professional athletes who play consistent hockey everyday, there will be upsets. I'm sorry, but if you don't think a 4 seed could beat a 1 seed in HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY, you are an idiot.

I believe that an upset is possible, however not probable. Hill may not have there strongest offense ever, but they play with balance and depth. they roll threee medium to strong lines consistantly. No other team in the section is as balanced from top to bottom. This issue is never ending. I dont believe it is jealousy, but more anger. If the skaters for Hill were third liners from the surrounding Youth club Bantam teams this wouldn't be an issue. Say Jealous all you want, but you have to agree when a majority of the top kids in the surrounding youth progams defect to play along side of the others At HM, anger in the locals will insue. You dont have to recruit. Many kids who proudly wore there areas jersey over the years playing along side there friends, will sell out every year to have an easier taste of fame. I have more respect for the kids who stay with there club and choose to work hard to achieve the dream with the kids they grew up with. (NOT A HILL HATER, JUST A REALIST CHEARING FOR THE UNDERDOG.)

As a WBL fan (my username kind of gives that away). I'm definitely not going to say Hill is tough to judge due to their schedule. You're dillusional if you think otherwise. I've seen them play 3 times in person this season,(vs EP, WBL, Moorhead on TV and against Breck) and was very impressed like always. They are arguably the deepest team in the state, and I don't see any team beating them if the game is tied or they're trailing in the 3rd period. They have way too much depth and speed, and coached up perfectly to play with the lead. They trap you to death, and don't make dumb mistakes with the puck. It's going to be very difficult for ANY team in the state to beat them, yet alone from this section. Just my two cents.

I am serious when I say this...

WBLHockeyfan04 has class everyone. Although HM is his team's arch rival; he can still suck it up and say HM has a solid team. It's not often you see this, especially if its a WB or HM fan commenting about eachother's team in this rivalry. Thank you, WBLHockeyfan04 for shedding some light on this discussion.

Best of luck to all of the teams.
