Why? Better coach at blades and MM than legacy and Team MN?
Opposite actually....
Legacy 03's were coached by Scott Steffen. So the kids had great coaching there.
Team MN / Miracle Gold has an excellent program set up....great collection of coaches and trainers.
All the shuffling is simply timing. A lot of programs are starting a year earlier now. In the past, the Elite 7-8 year-olds (...I know, it is not easy to type that with a straight face) would play up with the 8-9 year-olds. Now, they have options. Not as many options, but they have some. Blades, Machine, Miracle Gold, Icemen, Easton, etc., etc. have all phased in their 03 Elite teams on different time schedules this spring/summer.
Result = a lot of hockey moms buying multiple AAA sweatshirts this summer (and a long line of elite 4 year-olds chomping at the bit)

Team Minnesota '03's
Team Minnesota is being run by the miracle gold program. The '03 gold team won the independent tourney this summer, but is not the same group of kids. 8 kids on team Minnesota skated for the gold team that won the ship at independent. 2 kids on team Minnesota were players on the '02 gold team. The other 7 kids on team Minnesota played for different programs. There are two kids from NB on the roster, not quite a few....there is NO affiliation with MM. Yes this team will be very competitive, I heard a couple of the players were offered a spot on the blades team, but decided to skate for the gold program and team Minnesota in the walleye.

helightsthelamp, read again to understand.MrBoDangles wrote:I think a few from Legacy are switching over to the Blades and most of the Miracle Gold are playing as Team MN for the tournament.HockeyDad41 wrote:So at the '03 level the kids who played for Legacy's team this summer now play for the Blades and the Minnesota Made kids play for HB/Miracle Gold? If so that's a couple of interesting alliances.we're all crazy wrote:03 Level should be competitive, assuming Blades (spent this summer as Legacy), Admirals, SE Jr. Selects, and Cougars all send similar roster as the Cougar Invite earlier this summer. Looking at the scores from that tourney, these 4 teams all showed well (Blades/Legacy won championship game in OT).
Team Minnesota would be the wildcard. It was a MM team at the Cougar Invite, now it is a a HB/Miracle Gold team.
Quite a few NB kids...
Or at least try.....

Re: Team Minnesota '03's
Doesnt it make more sense to play for a great coach? Why leave a great coach to play for a "great" organization? What oranization/team has the best 2002 and 2003 coach?helightsthelamp wrote:Team Minnesota is being run by the miracle gold program. I think there are five or six 03's that play with the programs that were in the post. From what I've been told there are 7-8 02's and 03's that play for these teams from the same grade level. Not too bad considering they only have 12-14(a couple others could) players total at that grade level.helightsthelamp wrote:I may not know, but as far as I know, only one kid from NB on the blades....

Ok, i was clearly not on the same page....yes if looking at all the programs on this post and including both '02's and '03's then yes there are quite a few. I stand corrected! The most amazing part is that the majority, if not all of these kids will still have mite eligibility. NB will have a very strong A mite team this year with a few very high end kids!

That's great. So Team Minnesota has a couple of kids on it that the Blades were after, but they chose Team Minnesota? Is that the 03 level? Do you know if the team is made up of mostly northern suburb kids, or are there players from all over?MrBoDangles wrote:I think there are five or six 03's that play with the programs that were in the post. They're all still very young and I think it's more about "local" for the families. All three programs have great things to offer...HockeyDad41 wrote:That's great. I heard coachmom's kid was playing for team Minnesota, can you confirm or deny? If this is true I may have to change my prediction at the '03 level.helightsthelamp wrote:Yes there were a couple of kids that have decided to skate with gold program that the blades wanted, which included skating for team Minnesota. Yes this is the '03 level. Mostly kids from northern part of metro on '03 team but not all. Bo I agree with you all three programs are good choices!

For what it is worth, there are 4 03's from the Harris/NB/Stacy area that have been skating with the Elite teams this summer. 2 will skate the Walleye for the Blades, 2 will skate for Team MN. The 2 on the Blades were the two that skated Steffen's Legacy team earlier this summer.helightsthelamp wrote:Ok, i was clearly not on the same page....yes if looking at all the programs on this post and including both '02's and '03's then yes there are quite a few. I watched the 03 Team MN boys scrimmage the 02 United team last night. Very one-sided in favor of the 03's. Good looking team.

Did you see a kid about 5 feet tall and 100+ lbs?helightsthelamp wrote:4-0 was the final but united goalie was amazing in the net coming up with some huge saves. Can not confirm or deny if coachmom's kid is on team minnesota as I don't know who her son is....

Were the scoring and scoring chances spread out or was it just one line?

Scoring was two lines but all three lines had good chances. Yes there was a kid playing D that fit the bill thus would suspect was him but since I don't know for sure don't want to assume...logic would make you think it is him as not a Lot of 5' '03's out there but again can not confirm.HockeyDad41 wrote:Did you see a kid about 5 feet tall and 100+ lbs?helightsthelamp wrote:4-0 was the final but united goalie was amazing in the net coming up with some huge saves. Score doesn't reflect the play. As stated, goalie made some great (fortunate) saves in addtion to a fair share of pipes and missed open nets. Play was indicative of an 8-0 type of game.helightsthelamp wrote:4-0 was the final but united goalie was amazing in the net coming up with some huge saves. 03 team looks fairly balanced top-to-bottom. Move the puck well, back check well. Not typical of an Elite team this young....missing the typical "coast-to-coast" individual style of play that you usually see. I was shocked to see the level of positional play and team work shown.
As a north-metro guy, it is fun to see what they are building at NSC with the Miracle Gold program. Concept is a little different from Blades and MM, so it will be interesting to see things play out.

I wonder if they'll be able to hang on to that talent or if the lure of the Brick tournament or 450 hours of training a summer will see some of them off to the Blades or Machine.we're all crazy wrote:Score doesn't reflect the play. Were the two on Team Minnesota also offered to play with the Blades? I was told there were one or two more on both the Legacy, Gold and the Blades(?)..... Might be 02's, but I believe they're all in the same grade.we're all crazy wrote:For what it is worth, there are 4 03's from the Harris/NB/Stacy area that have been skating with the Elite teams this summer. 2 will skate the Walleye for the Blades, 2 will skate for Team MN. Might pay the price of 450 hrs and get 70 with the one team....HockeyDad41 wrote:I wonder if they'll be able to hang on to that talent or if the lure of the Brick tournament or 450 hours of training a summer will see some of them off to the Blades or Machine.we're all crazy wrote:Score doesn't reflect the play.
