East is basically a Duluth AAA Team as 3 of the top 6 or so East players moved from Lakers. They were the top Lakers. We saw what happened to them when they lost 1 of the Lakers (Val) and their recruited goalie against Tonka. GR does not have near the numbers as Duluth pulls the top kids from entire Duluth area.Usthockey13 wrote:Well played Gitter but in pervious years they were under the enrollment #'s and still played one of if not the toughest schedules in the state year in and year out.. Also with it looking like Andover the #2 and GR the #3 seed (barring a upset) GR could have a tough time in the Semis with the way Andovers goalie is playinggitter wrote:Duluth East is AA enrollment since the closure of Duluth Central.Usthockey13 wrote: That is true but East is also single A enrollment that plays AA and doesnt schedule any A teams but Denfeld ( forced to by school Dist).. And you cant say St Thomas Acd counts becuase that was in the Schwans and they are a AA team
If East if forced to play Denfeld by the school district, I don't think that's right. Not saying they should not play, but it's like Duluth AAA beating up Duluth A. There are other A teams in the Duluth area that the district should think about forcing them to play. Especially in the years to come.
If East qualified for A hockey before the merger of Central, how many years did they? They must have dropped in as the enrollments of the Duluth public schools dropped. Wonder what year they met the class A numbers?
