I’ve added the Mounds View/Irondale and Andover/Champlin Park scores in my post above that recaps the results of all of the games played yesterday. There sure was lots of parity in Section 5AA, as three of the four quarterfinal games were decided in overtime. In fact it took a total of seven overtimes to determine the winner in these three games.
Tuesday evening will feature semifinal matchups in 2AA, 4AA, 5AA and 8AA. Until then Nordic retakes the lead over Flying Warrior in our contest, but only by a single point. Several others remain within easy striking distance. On Tuesday much will depend on the outcome of the two games where we have the most disagreement as to which team will win: Eden Prairie or Chaska in 2AA, and Andover or Mounds View in 5AA. Should be interesting!

Recap of tonight's results:
2AA Semifinals
#1 Edina 6, #4 Bloomington Jefferson 1
Edina was the unanimous favorite to win this Upper Bracket semi, but nobody guessed the 6-1 score. D16Dad came closest at 5-1.
#2 Chaska/Chanhassen 3, #3 Eden Prairie 2
Even though Chaska/Chanhassen was the higher seed, a slight majority (7 of 12) had Eden Prairie winning. The other five had Chaska/Chanhassen and three of them (MNHockeyFan, Flying Warrior and D16Dad) also guessed the score and pick up the 2 point bonus.
4AA Semifinals
#2 Roseville 3, #3 White Bear Lake 1
Everybody picked Roseville to win, so everyone gets 3 points. Although many came close, no one got the 3-1 score correct.
#1 Hill Murray 5, #4 Stillwater 2
All but one predicted favored Hill-Murray to win, and of the 11 who did FOUR got the 5-2 score exactly right – Silent But Deadly, hockeyfan 87, ayhfan and Flying Warrior all get the 2 point bonus!
5AA Semifinals
#5 Blaine 3, #1 Anoka 1
Nordic was the only one to predict Blaine would win this, and at (3-2) barely missed getting the score correct also – great call! A solid majority (8 of 12) had top-seeded Anoka winning this section, and only Nordic had Blaine winning and getting to the section final.
#3 Mounds View 5, #2 Andover 1
A mild upset, but only 3 (MNHockeyFan, ayhfan and Otter) had Mounds View getting to the section final. There were no correct scores in this one.

Some additional (random) thoughts:
1. Everyone pretty much predicted that, of the eight sections, 5AA probably had the most parity, top to bottom. Sure enough, the section final will be missing both the No. 1 and 2 seeds, as both were upset. No. 5 Blaine will square off against No. 3 Mounds View for the right to go to State. With the upsets in this section, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that only one of our twelve prognosticators – and it happens to be Otter – has any chance to pick up any points in the Section 5AA Championship Game.
2. As it turns out, the next most difficult Class 2A section to predict – at least so far as 6AA is the last to play their semi’s – has been 8AA. No. 1 seed North Wright County was ousted by No. 4 Sartell/Sauk Rapids, who will face No. 2 Roseau for the right to go to State. As a result, only half (6 of 12) of our prognosticators have any chance to pick up points in the 8AA final.

Everybody picked BSM to win the semi and advance to the final. We also had two correct scores, by fivehole628 and Flying Warrior (Flying Warrior is on fire!)
#2 Minnetonka 3, #6 Buffalo 0
All but one had Minnetonka winning and advancing to the section showdown with Benilde. There were no correct scores (and in fact only one had Minnetonka meeting Buffalo in the semi).

Thanks again to FlyingWarrior for the updates on Grand Rapids/Greenway's four overtime, 2-1 victory over No. 1 seed Elk River/Zimmerman. A real battle if there was ever was one!
With GR/G's win, FlyingWarrior was able to maintain his 5 point lead after stumbling just a bit in tonight's 1AA final. Only three others had GR/G winning the Section 7AA Championship, and there were no correct scores.
In our earlier game, which pitted the two Lakeville schools against one another, there were also no correct scores. Half of our field (6 of 12) added five points each when North beat South 5-2.
