St. Cloud is representing Dist 6 and Brainerd (Dist 6 runner up) is representing Dist 3 (SW MN). Appearently Dist 3 does not send any teams to state. Last year Dist 2 sent 2 teams to the state VFW. I guess this year it was Dist 6's turn....
The VFW Districts are different than the MN Hockey Districts. This link has a map.

Thanks for the clarification! I like the outstate flavor the tourney will have, obviously the metro teams may think this is the "lesser" of the state tournaments, but all in all it should be some good battles from top to bottom. Looking forward to it!

My guess for Dist 1 is Rochester???

Also, I would assume Alexandria for Dist 5.

Anyone have any predictions on the games this weekend? I have only seen a few of the northern teams play. St. Cloud has come on strong over districts and almost made the MAHA state tournament and could be a sleeper. Warroad has had a big break since their district tournaments and could have ended up with a good draw in Lakeville. Insight on the metro squads?

Does anyone know if MSBN (www.minnesotasportsnetwork.com) will be covering the VFW tournament this year? I believe they did last year. Can't find anything on their website about it.

Championship game was marred by a horrible call against Lakeville resulting in a game misconduct for what was a legal albeit hard hit. The referee totally over reacted b and really missed this call. Film clearly showed a legal hit. This really changed the game and unfortunately resulted in fans acting inappropriately and really took the fun out of what was a really good hockey game

If the definition of "legal" being that the East player had cearly gotten rid of the puck and as the play moved away the Lakeville player continued more than 5 strides to deliver a check that was about 5ft from the end boards, resulting in the East player hitting his head/neck against the base of the boards (big guy on big guy). So although not a hit from behind it was called a boarding penalty. Should the player been removed from the game? I guess you leave that to the referees since the player made to effort to avoid/lessen the impact of his infraction. This game was called tight & East did receive a 5 & 10 later in the game on a check that was from behind by the faceoff dot & but was not directed towards the boards (little guy on little guy). Overall penalty minutes would have ended even but lakeville took a 2 & 10(rough) & a 2 (slash?) within the last 4 minutes of the game. It was a great champ game by 2 good deserving teams. Lakeville definately looked to try & play agressive against East but with the new emphasis on these rules this season you take the chance for this result. East had upset lakeville in the Moose Gohen tourney 6-1 so they may have been looking to make a statment at VFW. The police being called for the Lakeville mom was unfortunate & distracting during the game tho.

I was in attendance and I would say this is a pretty fair assessment of the game. Both teams played very well.

You say that "film clearly showed a legal hit". Could you please post a link to video of this? I am very curious to see it. Thanks
