I just got back fron st cloud. Best players today included Sullivan, Boeser, Jungels, newhouse, zimmer, freytag, mallstrom, heimbold, kaske, baer,garin, verisch.
No way bump makes it ans pitlick did nothing and really had a tough time with the guys getting biggerm

Nice to hear that some players had a good first day. Having had an older son participate in this camp...based on what he told (afterwards) and what I observed first hand...it's a fun camp for all the players...but at the same time....it a 6 day GRIND. Even for the top players (usual suspects reputation wise of this group) how they handle and embrace this 6 day grind mentally and physically...and improve their overall play as the week progresses....ultimately determines who advances to Rochester, NY. That's why every year there are a few surprises when the Final Picks are announced...because the less well known players get a longer look at the 15's over 6 days....than at the 16 and 17 (Final 54) over 2.5 days. Also for forwards the 102 and 54 formats are a lot better for evaluating them...because they roll 9 forwards per team at the 102 and 10 forwards per team at the 54's (as opposed to 12 forwards per team at the Spring Festivals).

Why do we need to single out kids and say negative things about them? What have they done to you, besides possibly making it over your kid?

I was just giving observation from what i saw, both bump and pitlick were considered likely canidates to make the team. i still think Pitlick makes it. Anyway if you dont want to discuss hockey than find the basketball forum

Truly, I don't know if any of the said "assumed to make it" looked that strong when I was watching. There is something to be said for players that have skill, hard work ethic AND can give it for the whole camp. From what I saw, there were several names not on anyone's radar that were out working, and out playing the previously stated names.... Just sayin.

I wouldn't be surprised if several of the "known" players were not picked because of their lack of "go get it" style of play.

MY take on the camp. A ton of very good players. All of the kids looked to be playing a bit nervously in the first game. Second games were a lot more like hockey Lots more plays being made. I suspect by the end of the week there will be kids that separate themselves but for now it is really good hockey with lots of skills out there. One standout that I saw and not it is not my kid is the Goalie from St. louis park. I think he has been the one standout.

Good Call Bruins - Connor played the 2nd half of his game yesterday and yes, he stood out on all three shots he faced. Maybe four. He is a great kid and a very solid goalie, but then again, they all are. I don't think any of the goalies I saw over the first two days distinguished themselves among the group.

Several saw only a handful of shots, others had little defensive help. Some had a chance to play the puck and control the game from their position, others did not. Some faced power plays, others did not. Tough to evaluate the goalies because of the flow (lack thereof) in the games which in many instances denies them the chance to show their skills - my guess is that a lot of that evaluation has to be done during their individual sessions in the morning.

From what I saw, and as others have suggested, St. John, Ahrens, Swail, Robert, Driscoll and Klaers (sp?) are all in the hunt.

Oops for what? How would you know? 102 very skilled hockey players and only ONE standout??? Really.........only ONE standout????

Thanks for the observations. I'm an SCSU fan... any comments on Breidenbach, Altena, Bissett, Chisholm, or Cornelius?

Wow you guys are brutal. I am not a goalie dad. I can't wait to see what you do with this one. Adams. kid from Grand Rapids. Two goals yesterday against the Gold team. He made nice a nice play on one and had a tap in on the other. No one has mentioned him. I don't know him or his dad so rip away. Next. Pitlick Played very well, Had a goal and assist. Looks small but seems to be passing more than the other top end kids. I have watched most of the games up here and it is fun to see the play starting to develop and the individuals dissapear

Just remember that all of the players are evaluated both on the ice and off the ice. So with the evaluation of everything involved with the camp some might not make the final cut even though they had great games.

I hear that my kid is dominating in the Rag ball games. ( that is his only shot at the NY camp )

This doesn't surprise me, Lambrecht is a great playmaker. He is small, but he is thicker than someone like a pitlick so he can't get knocked off the puck as easily.

What`s with all the ill remarks towards Pitlick, give the kid a break. He is a good player competing for a spot like all the rest in St Cloud, enough already.

I'm not trying to knock Pitlick, he is a great player and has a good chance of going to new york just saying that his size does hurt him sometimes.
