In our lone game tonight it was:
Minnetonka 4, Breck 1
Amy Petersen scored two goals and Sydney Baldwin added a pair of assists to lead Minnetonka past Breck at the Pagel Activity Center. Taylor Bovee and Darby Flatley also scored for the Skippers, while Kate Schipper tallied for Breck. Shots on goal were heavily tilted towards Tonka, 32-11.
If you did not predict a score of 4-1 in tonight's game you fell behind by a point. In what has to be a Forum “Big Games” record, 8 prognosticators ( out of 18 ) got the score correct. The other 10 did have Tonka winning, so they each get a single point.
Heading into tomorrow’s schedule of five games, here is where things stand:
1. MNHockeyFan – 7
Bighead – 7
D6 Girls Fan – 7
4. Nordic – 6
36Guy – 6
sinbin – 6
D16Dad – 6
8. capitalpride – 5
Silent But Deadly – 5
FlyingWarrior – 5
Bleedinred – 5
Racki2016 – 5
ayhfan – 5
Otter – 5
hockeyfan87 – 5
Knight7 – 5
mnhockey3535 – 5
18. One with 4
(still impressed how almost half managed to predict the score!)

Bloomington Jefferson 0, Lakeville North 0 (OT Tie)
The Jaguars and the Panthers battled to a scoreless tie at Ames Arena in Lakeville. Bailey Plaman of Jefferson was the No. 1 star of the game, stopping all 32 shots she faced to keep Lakeville North’s potent offense off the board. At the other end the Panthers’ Cassie Alexander was also perfect, but was a lot less busy having to make just 11 saves.
All of us had Jefferson winning this one, so everybody strikes out with 0 points! I guess that qualifies Jefferson's tie as an upset...
Note on the game schedule:
The game between Crookston and East Grand Forks, which I included with tonight's games, is actually scheduled for tomorrow, February 1st.

Hopkins 5, Breck 1
Nina Rodgers scored two goals, both on the power play, to help Hopkins beat Breck at Anderson Ice Arena in Golden Valley. Kylie Hanley and Shortie Sheran each contributed a goal and two assists and Rachael St. Clair three assists for the Royals. Hopkins fired 44 shots at Breck’s goalies, while the Royals’ Erin O'Neil stopped all but one of Breck’s 25 shots.
A reversal from the first game, as in this one all 18 come away with a point each. Everyone, however, thought the score would be closer than the four goal margin.

Roseville 7, Stillwater 0
There is no Game Sheet posted, as of yet, showing the stats for this game. But it's obviously a huge “statement” type of win for Roseville over traditional rival Stillwater.
14 of 18 had the Raiders winning and add a point, but no one came close to getting the score right.
Now just waiting on the EP/BSM game, after which I’ll post the updated Leaderboard!

Benilde-St. Margaret’s 5, Eden Prairie 1
Kelly Pannek’s two goals and two assists led the No. 1 rated Red Knights over No. 4 Eden Prairie at the St. Louis Park Rec Center. Benilde took a 5-0 lead until allowing the Eagles their only goal, scored by Angie Heppelmann at 3:56 into the 3rd period. Other Red Knights’ goals were scored by Brittany Wheeler, Kaylee Druk and Caitlin Reilly. Sara Taffe and Druk each added two assists. And Liv Halvorson, who missed BSM’s previous 9 games after being injured in an auto accident about a month ago, returned to play her first game since then and recorded an assist. In goal, Abigail Miller stopped 24 of 25 Eagles shots, while EP’s McKenzie Johnson came up with 25 saves on 30 BSM shots.
All but one had Benilde winning, and two – fishfreak11 and ayhfan - also got the score right and add the bonus point.

In the battle of the Lakeville's earlier it was:
Lakeville South 4, Lakeville North 3
Haley Ravndalen’s goal at 6:49 of the 3rd period proved to be the game winner as 14th ranked Lakeville South edged #8 Lakeville North 4-3 at Hasse Arena. It was the final game of the regular season for both teams, and the Cougars’ win evened the season series between the two crosstown rivals at a game apiece. Ravndalen also opened the game’s scoring just 2:28 in, with Morgan Morse scoring South’s other two goals. Callen Naasz added two assists, while Alexis Joyce had a goal and an assist for the Panthers. For the game North did outshoot South 27-18.
This was a pretty big upset according to our panel. Just 1 of 18 – Bleedinred – had the Cougars winning to pick up a point on everyone else.

Hill-Murray 1, Edina 1 (OT Tie)
Hill=Murray and Edina skated to a 1-1 tie in an evenly played defensive battle at Edina’s Braemar Arena. The two teams’ goalies were the stars in this one. The Pioneers’ Alexys Woodward made 25 saves while Boomer Sonnek was called upon to make 30 for the Hornets. Nicole Rash scored to put Edina up in the first and the Pioneers’ Kate Smith got the tying goal in the middle of the 2nd period.
Our group favored the home team by a 12-6 margin, but with the game ending in a tie everybody got shut out on our score card.
Note: I will be out until later this evening, and I hope to provide the results of our other two games and update the Leaderboard when I return!

Minnetonka 7, Blake 1
No. 2AA Minnetonka got goals from seven different players in a balanced attack to rout No. 2A Blake 7-1 on Blake’s home ice in Hopkins. Maggie Bazany and Laura Bowman each had a goal and two assists, Sidney Morin had three assists and Sydney Baldwin two assists for the Skippers. Sydney Rossman stopped 20 of Blake’s 21 shots while the Skippers had 40 shots on Bears' goalie Tori Johnson.
All 18 contestants add a point for Tonka’s win, but nobody gets two.
Mounds View 1, Roseville 1
Mounds View and Roseville battled to a 1-1 draw at the Roseville Ice Arena. After a scoreless first period Erika Bjorkman, on an assist from Allyson Reilly, got Roseville on the board in the 2nd period. Lauren Klein then tied it up at 9:00 of the third, with Elli Marvin assisting. Mary Dingman stopped 28 of 29 shots for Mounds View while the Raiders’ Brittany Boss surrendered just one goal on 35 Mounds View shots.
We had one fearless prognosticator who went out on a limb by predicting a tie to pick up a point on the rest of the field. Congratulations to D6 Girls Fan who in the process also moves back into a first place tie with 12 points. With just two games to be played here is where things stand:

The score for tonight's game has not yet been posted on the Hub, but Minnesota-Scores.net is showing the result as:
Warroad 3, Roseau 2
A closer game than everyone predicted, so there were no correct scores. Everyone gets one point added to the Leaderboard shown in my post immediately above!
Tomorrow's final "Big Game" between Orono and South St. Paul will determine our winner of our last regular season contest. It's a little more evenly divided than most games, with 12 having picked the Spartans while 6 cast their vote with the Packers.

cigar, thanks for providing the score! It is still not posted on either the Hub or MinnesotaScores.net, but for the time being we'll go with it! (subject to change if for whatever reason cigar's score is incorrect):
D6 Girls Fan and MNHockeyFan (
) hang on to tie for the win even though both of us got this last game wrong (with sincere apologies to cigar!). And ayhfan DID predict an Orono win to move up and make it a 3-way tie for 1st Place!
