Thanks, OTown...I always enjoy this one.O-townClown wrote:Nice Karl! I was real busy last weekend over Memorial Day and was feeling bad I never got around to posting a Pick 8 thread. Well done!
With Luverne and New Ulm going down in 3A today, my giant bid may finally pay off for once. bardown27 and I are the only two people left standing in all eight Class A sections. (One of us with a bid of $1...the other with a bid of $16,777,216...)

It seems like it'd be pretty easy to have a winner with 8 or 12 bucks if you just had enough entries, but it doesn't work like that! As I recall, last year was almost all #1 seeds and there were some cheap Pick 8 tickets. Usually it takes well over $100. As for your millions, you better get all eight!! Yes, you have to put the money in up front.karl(east) wrote:Thanks, OTown...I always enjoy this one.O-townClown wrote:Nice Karl! I was real busy last weekend over Memorial Day and was feeling bad I never got around to posting a Pick 8 thread. Well done!

Results are in, and the winner of both brackets is...me, with bids of $16,777,216 in each.
In Class A, 3A screwed everyone else up. bardown27, with the gutsy call of Hutchinson, was the only person to pick someone other than Luverne, New Ulm or both of those two. The 4-seed winning really threw this one off.
In AA, only one other person (goldy313) picked Eastview, but he did not have Lakeville North in 1AA.
I've been picking the top 8 seeds in each section for a few years now, and it finally paid off. It goes to show how one random upset can throw everything off, and how rare it is to have a year like last year, when just about all the teams that advanced were favorites or near-favorites.
Thanks for playing...the State Tournament contest will be along shortly, and I won't be able to steal that one as easily.

Congrats on the win! Next year I may take all the top 5 seeds to throw a wrench in your plan.karl(east) wrote:Results are in, and the winner of both brackets is...me, with bids of $16,777,216 in each.![]()
