I want to congratulate the Eastview Lightning players and coaches. They are the epitomy of a TEAM peaking at just the right time.
Zach Driscoll gets a lot of credit, and rightfully so, but I have to say, I haven't seen 20 guys playing with and for each other, to that extent all season. Very impressive.
They executed a near perfect game plan for 51 minutes and frustrated the Wildcats from the opening faceoff.
Shutting down passing lanes. Collapsing on the slot. Strong and busy sticks. Competing for every puck. Amazing and energetic forecheck and backcheck from all 18 skaters.
These guys will be tough to beat at State. Well deserved win.
From a die-hard Wildcat fan, a sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the Lightning players and coaches on a well deserved win. You were the better team and playing like you did tonight, you will represent 3AA very well in St. Paul.
Congrats & Good Luck!

100 % class response scorekeep....I really appreciate your post. There are not enough people left that behave graciously in defeat and I believe its an indication of character. I applaud you...and the wildcats who although I'm quite certain are rightfully devastated have had a great 3 year run and should be proud of all they accomplished.

I agree Scorekeeper, but let's let loose a little. How was the powerplay for Eagan? About 0 for 11 in the playoffs? Same powerplay as last year with Zajac and Merchant taking the shots with the same dismal results this year. Let's not forget the typical dumb undisciplined penalties on Eagan from a defenseman that is constantly roaming out of position that EV exploited all night with a better game plan. Add not much in the goaltending category and a coach that rarely gets the most out of his team (4 D1 guys last year and good senior depth this year) and they lay an egg when it matters most. Tell me I'm wrong or keep your chapstick on for one more year.

scorekeep was not only gracious, but spot on in his analysis. Game played a lot like Eastview's regular season win, except that they cut Eagan's shot total in half. Best of luck to them in St. Paul.
Folks at the X are in for a treat next week if Driscoll plays like he did tonight. I've never seen a goalie make a behind the back glove save before.

Congrats to Eastview! And my sympathies go out to our classy Eagan fan base on here. Thanks for a fun season, and I wish all these Wildcats the best, no matter where their futures may take them.
I'm curious to see Eastview next week; I last saw them in a December game against Wayzata, when they left me pleasantly surprised with their work ethic and the strong athletes on the team. Add in Driscoll, and they could be a real tough draw for one of the top seeds in the first round. What a huge win for that program, too.

Pardon me. Eagan was 0 for 14 on the PP during the section playoffs. Did kill 13 of 13 for 100% but 0 for 14 with a man advantage from what WAS a top 4 team in the state? Maybe Karl can send down some tape of Duluth East's powerplay. If not, maybe look to the Edina PW As or Wayzata B-1 gold for something new.

Ok well I guess its my turn to be gracious in defeat as I sit down to eat this extra large serving of crow. It was a complete team effort by Eastview as they totally shut down the Cats. It was the best game plan and total team effort I have witnessed all season. I withdraw my "Terrible" comment and you will have my total support as representatives of 3AA. Good Luck !!
It's not the Best players, it's the Right players! HB
