Duluth East (5-2) vs. Hill-Murray (7-0)
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
Final score- HM- 6 DE- 3
Kind of a weird game.
It was way closer than the actual score, East had twice as many shots as HM. No, East could not have "easily won"
but I think they did a really good job against a tough HM team. I'm actually pleased with their play, and last time I was pleased was when they won against Wayzata. Goaltending for East was just flat out awful.
If they can get the goaltending sorted out, they can become really dangerous to any team they play. Can't wait to see if they come out with a couple wins these next few days.

DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.

The weird shot margin had a lot to do with the style of hockey East was playing. They had the right idea, and sure created their share of chances. They just couldn't quite cash in often enough. Kolar's return to the lineup gives them two lines that are legitimate scoring threats, which is an improvement. Prior Lake should be an interesting opponent tomorrow.
Hill can certainly score in bunches, but if they play like that against a team with more skill than East, they're in trouble. They're a nice team, and in a year like this they have as good a chance as anyone, but they're not a clear-cut #1. On paper they have a relatively easy semifinal against Minnetonka, but stranger things have happened.
