First final score of the night:

Irondale 5, Totino-Grace 0

Irondale got off to a fast start in the 1st period, with Samantha Donovan and Alex Toupal each scoring a pair of goals to put their team up 4-0. Toupal then added another one in the 2nd for her hat trick. She also assisted on both of Donovan's goals for a five point night, while Donovan finished with four points. Knights' goalie Anna Pate needed to make just 12 saves to get her shutout.

Only 1 of 32 contestants did not earn a point for the Knights win, but of the 31 who did only one - hockeybozo - predicted the score for the extra point.

St. Paul United 3, South St. Paul 1

Leading St. Paul United scorer Alev Baysoy scored all of her team's goals and that's all St. Paul United needed to upset the #6A South St. Paul Packers at Wakota Arena. Baysoy's hat trick gave her 17 goals and 30 points on the year. Catherine Johnson stopped 35 of 36 Packers' shots, including 17 in the 3rd period to preserve the win.

A big upset according to our panel. Just 4 of 32 picked St. Paul United to win: wolfman, rascalbrock, mrleft and RailingWizardofOZ but none of the four predicted the 3-1 score.

Wayzata 2, Hopkins 3

Goals by Corbin Boyd, Nina Rodgers and Rachael St. Clair gave Hopkins a 3-0 lead in the 1st period, but Wayzata battled back in the 2nd and 3rd as Hannah Bangen and Sophia Shaver each scored power play goals to make in a one goal game, with Shaver's coming with 10 1/2 minutes remaining. For the game the Trojans outshot the Royals by a 28-16 margin.

The No. 1 ranked Royals were the heavy favorites to win, by a margin of 25-6-1. And there were four who guessed the 3-2 score: Nimrod, MNHockeyFan :), hockeybozo and spars46.

Thief River Falls 3, Warroad 2

No. 1A ranked Thief River Falls battled back from a two goal deficit, scoring all three of their goals in the last 6 minutes of the game, to escape with a 3-2 at the Gardens Arena in Warroad. Morgan Martell scored the tying goal, on an assist from Kora Torkelson, with 4:18 to go, then Torkelson got the game winner with 2:22 remaining. For the game Warroad held a 25-19 advantage in shots on goal.

Our panel favored the Prowlers to win by an overwhelming 29-3 margin. Somewhat surprising is that only two - MNHockeyFan :) again! and hockeybozo (again!) - got the 3-2 score right.

Minnetonka 2, Edina 2 (OT tie)

No. 2AA Minnetonka and 6AA Edina battled to a 2-2 tie in a Lake Conference matchup at Edina's Braemar Arena. Leading Edina scorer and Gopher recruit Taylor Williamson scored both of the Hornets' goals, with her second one coming with a little more than 4 minutes left to send the game into OT. Emma Bigham and Annelise Rice scored for the Skippers. Edina held a slight 32-27 edge in shots.

None of our prognosticators predicted the two teams would tie, so no one gains or loses any ground in our last reported score of the night.

Here is our Leaderboard after tonight's 5 games:

1. hockeybozo - 6 points (5 games, 3 correct scores - pretty amazing!)

2. MNHockeyFan - 5 :o

3. wolfman - 4
Nimrod - 4
RailingWizardofOZ - 4

Our first game this evening:

Achiever Academy 2, Lakeville North 1 (OT)

Emily Antony's goal at 2:46 into overtime won it for the Aces at Ames Arena in Lakeville. Aly Tremblay, who assisted on the winning goal, also scored Achiever's opening goal on a power play in the 2nd period. Both players finished with a goal and an assist. In goal, Alexa Berg stopped 21 of 22 shots for the win.

This was a tough game to predict, IMO. According to our panel, the result qualifies as an upset, with only 5 of 32 predicting the Aces would win. One of those five - the woogieboogiewoogie man ;) - also got the score right to earn the bonus.

P.S. The Roseau @ East Grand Forks game scheduled for tonight was postponed, due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for tomorrow evening so it wlll still count in this week's contest.

According to Minnesota-Scores.net it was:

Burnsville South 5, Lakeville South 0

Not so much the result as the score, yet still it was another upset according to our esteemed panel of experts  ... just 9 of 32 had the Braves winning, and nobody had them winning by more than a two goal margin.

Final score from this evening:

Hibbing/Chisholm 0, Proctor/Hermantown 4

Reilly Fawcett scored three goals and added one assist to power #15A Proctor/Hermantown past #10A Hibbing/Chisholm at Hermantown Arena. Kylie Hommerding stopped all 20 of Hibbing/Chisholm's 20 shots to earn her shutout.

Our group was pretty divided on this game, but a slight majority (18-14) thought Hibbing/Chisholm would win...so I guess P/H's win qualifies as an (another) upset.

As mentioned earlier the Roseau/East Grand Forks game was moved to tomorow evening, so with the results of 8 of 17 games in the books this week, here is how things stand so far:

1. hockeybozo - 6 points (was shut out this evening, so things tighten up a bit)
MNHockeyFan - 6 :o

3.MIYY4U - 5
wolfman - 5

Mound Westonka 4, Orono 4 (OT Tie)

Abby Brustad's goal with 3:13 to go knotted the score at 4-4 as Mound Westonka and Orono skated to a 4-4 tie at the Orono Ice Arena in Long Lake. Orono held a wide 41-26 edge in shots on goal. These same two Wright County Conference rivals will meet in a rematch this coming Tuesday.

In our contest 24 of 32 predicted Orono would win, and nobody called for a tie...so goose eggs all around.

Still no score posted for the Roseau - East Grand Forks tilt, so I will update the leaderboard when the result of this game is posted tomorrow.

Final score from the Hinterlands, as posted on Minnesota-Scores.net:

Roseau 2, East Grand Forks 3

The favorite and higher-ranked team won, but it was a lot closer contest than most everyone predicted. Only one had Roseau winning, and another predicted a tie, so everyone else got a point. There was just one who got the 3-2 score right, and that one was mnhockey3535.

So, heading into today's busy schedule, things are still very bunched up, and is still anyone's ball game:

1. hockeybozo - 7 points
MNHockeyFan - 7 points :o

3.MIYY4U - 6

Thanks for reporting the scores, guys! Here's what I've got so far:

Minnetonka 3, Wayzata 2
Sidney Baldwin scored two goals, including the game winner with just 56 seconds remaining, to lead No. 2AA ranked Minnetonka over No. 4AA Wayzata at the Plymouth Ice Center. For the game the Skippers outshot the Trojans 30-17.

Our group favored Minnetonka to win by a 25-7 margin. And of the 25 almost a third – 8 – also guessed the 3-2 score: mnhockey3535, Maverick2000, woogieboogiewoogie, D6 Girls Fan, RailingWizardofOZ, sinbin, hugo_lucas and D16Dad each add the bonus. Tough group!

Lakeville North 2, Burnsville 3
After falling behind 0-2 Burnsville rallied, scoring two goals late in the 2nd period and the game winner early in the 3rd to upset the No. 6AA rated Lakeville North Panthers at the Burnsville Ice Center. Briita Nelson scored the winning goal for the Blaze, and Lauren Bench stopped 28 of 30 Lakeville North shots to get the win.

Well with one exception, all of a sudden our group doesn’t look so smart! Everybody struck out EXCEPT Misterright, who not only predicted the Blaze would win but also said it would be by a score of 3 to 2. So Misterright picks up two points on the rest of the field – nice job!

Hopkins 3, Eden Prairie 4
Eden Prairie got off to a 3-0 lead before Hopkins mounted a strong rally, scoring three of the next four goals to pull within one with just over 10 minutes left in the game. But the Eagles held the No. 1 ranked team in Class 2A scoreless the rest of the way, and it ended 4-3 Eagles. Four different players scored goals for EP, with Charly Dahlquist, Kate Rydland and Lauren Boyle each finishing with two points.

Another HUGE upset with only two having predicted EP would win. Misterright was right again, this time joined by hockeybozo as they pick up a point on everybody else. I'm beginning to sense a trend here...

Totino-Grace 3, Benilde-St. Margaret’s 4 (OT)
Caitlin Reilly scored with just 47 seconds remaining in the overtime period to lift BSM over Totino-Grace, preventing what would have been another big upset on what might be called "Upset Saturday". Reilly also had two assists, and Kelly Pannek also finished with a goal and two assists. Totino-Grace netminder Logan Knip finished with 55 saves on 59 Red Knights shots to keep her team very much in it until the final minute.

Yet another game where there was an overwhelming favorite, but this time the higher-ranked team prevailed in a nailbiter. All but one add a single point to their totals…and, not sure, but the one that didn’t get a point just might be related to Misterright?

Blake 1, Breck 3
Kendall Williamson and Claire Mancheski scored in the 1st period and Amanda Navratil added one in the 3rd to power the upset-minded Breck Mustangs past the Blake Bears in a big rivalry game played outdoors at the North Dale Recreation Center. Breck outshot Blake in each period, finishing with a 31-19 advantage.

Yet another big upset according to our esteemed (or formerly esteemed?) panel of prognostication “experts”. This time only 3 of 32 got it right, those being capitalpride, Maverick2000 and, with the third also getting the score right, you guessed it – Misterright strikes again! Wow! 8)

Still waiting on the results for the games between Jefferson/Kennedy vs. Eagan and Chaska/Chanhassen vs. Hill-Murray. Wanted to get this up while I take a break and grab a beverage!

Thanks to pucktech for posting another score:

Chaska/Chanhassen 3, Hill-Murray 5

Even though not "official" we'll go with it for now and post the Leaderboard while we wait for the Jefferson/Kennedy - Eagan game. In the C/C vs. H-M game all but one had the Pioneers winning, and two dads - u12dad and ERhockeydad - correctly predicted the 5-3 score. So, with one game to go:

1. u12dad - 10
Maverick2000 - 10
woogieboogiewoogie - 10
Misterright - 10 (what a comeback from a tie for 30th!) =D>
ERhockeydad - 10
MNHockeyFan - 10
hockeybozo - 10

8. mnhockey3535 - 9
JohnnyBuck - 9
