That game was a long time ago, teams are somewhat different now. ER was the better team in December when they were peaking with all of their seniors. They have adjusted to the departure and seem to have their game back. East was claiming at the seeding meeting that they were missing some key players at that time, hence the one seed. As we suspected they are the top two teams in 7AA. You can analyze schedules and common opponents all you want but this game would be hard predict, looks very even to me. If ER gets some secondary scoring like they did in the Andover game they will have a chance. East D may shut down the Elks top line leaving us with goaltending and special teams to determine winner.slyer wrote:you forgot ONE fact, that Elk River beat Duluth east earlier this year

I wish, but no kids on the team... yet:D We will all see soon enough! Looking forward to a good game, from East!DelanoHockey55 wrote:Alright, "HoundHockey" you're just a father of a kid on that team that's upset the Elks will represent 7AA at the X! Get back in your kennel!Houndhockey wrote:Not sure why anyone would think that East would lose this game in a runaway? They haven't done that all year. The team defense is what keeps the Hounds close with anyone. East has only given up 4 or more goals 3 times this year, and have only lost by more than 2 goals twice this year. Elk River conversely has given up 4 or more goals 7 times I believe and has had more lopsided losses than East. As far as their forecheck goes, its one of the best around. They have as of late really hurt opposing defenses with their hustle and cause lots of bad turnovers and dumb defensive zone play from defenders, leading to goals. Either Berglove is more succeptible to giving up goals or Elk River's defense just doesn't do the job. They have given up about a dozen more goals than East while playing one game less than the Hounds and about even schedules. All the facts point to the Hounds in this one!
Seriously though, I hope it is played well, and safely, and officiated well. No need for them to get in the way of a good game.

Re: Duluth east
It sounds like there won't be any streaming video this year, but you can get the radio feed here:Houndshoockey wrote:Anyone know if this game with be on tv or online in Roseville ,Minnesota

Hi
Oh that sucks but radio is better then nothing
Duluth lost to Elk River, Centennial, Lakeville North, and I believe Andover. The Elks Have Beaten Edina,Blaine,Andover and Centennial so tell me how they have more lopsided losses. Other than Edina Blaine and Maple Grove?Houndhockey wrote:Not sure why anyone would think that East would lose this game in a runaway? They haven't done that all year. East beat Andover by 2, and Elk river also lost big to Andover in the season along with their win.Optimus wrote:Duluth lost to Elk River, Centennial, Lakeville North, and I believe Andover. DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.

Will this game be on tv in elk river?
You point to "facts", yet conveniently leave out key ER positives.Houndhockey wrote:Not sure why anyone would think that East would lose this game in a runaway? They haven't done that all year. For one, you refer to East giving up less goals while playing one more game than ER, but you neglected to mention that ER has more goals scored than DE (13, to be exact) even while playing one less game than DE.
Also, you wrongly accuse ER of having more lopsided losses than DE. Both teams had exactly 2 losses with a 3 goal deficit (highest deficit of either team)
You bash ER for "allowing more 4 goal games", but you didn't mention their offense tends to make up for it. Over the regular season, Elks averaged 4.25 GPG while East only 3.56.
I agree that it probably isn't fair to call this a runaway game, but let's not act like this is an obvious East victory by cherry picking the facts that fall in East's favor....
And no, it won't be aired on TV in ER as far as I know.

Amsoil should be open Friday. The Bulldogs are on the road at Miami of Ohio.alcloseshaver wrote:Is Amsoil open on Friday? Would think they would do everything to get the game in. I believe it is..... If it gives one more day to practice on that Amsoil ice, I'm all for italcloseshaver wrote:Is Amsoil open on Friday? Would think they would do everything to get the game in. That's why it is smart to schedule the final on a Thursday, give's them a day just in case.Slammer wrote:I believe it is..... Yes, but it hasn't been updated yet. Does say in the advisory that it will be upgraded to a warning for tomorrow. Windchills are expected to be -45 to -55.Nevertoomuchhockey wrote:Isn't there a windchill advisory in Duluth every day? Haha. Play on!
It's supposed to get warmer as the day goes on, so I hope they wouldn't cancel if schools do get shut down.

Sticky wicket for the schools to send team and fans on the road in this day and age of litigation. Especially with the ER district in the news for various things the past few years. ie. Rogers student tweeting thing. Not sure anyone is considering closing school yet.Slammer wrote:Yes, but it hasn't been updated yet. This doesn't make sense. They close schools when they can't start the buses and they don't want kids out at the curb in the morning. Sounds like you don't want to play?! Maybe call the governor on that.alcloseshaver wrote:Sticky wicket for the schools to send team and fans on the road in this day and age of litigation. Just saying it is a societal thing, Not sure how you can read into it that they don't want to play? This might be the best opportunity for someone to beat East in their run of section titles.Nevertoomuchhockey wrote:This doesn't make sense.
