Nobody cares Minnesota top 10

Post by ted2you »

I think there is enough games between AA and A to identify a combined top 10. I'm sure people will think there is way too much credit to the A schools, but here is mine.

1. Lakeville North Key wins: Everyone

2. Edina: Key wins: Almost everyone: Bad losses: None

3. St. Thomas Academy: Key Wins: 15-2, Mahtomedi 8-1 Bad losses: One goal losses to BSM and HM, with rematches remaining this season.

4. Hermantown: Key wins: EGF, Hill Murray, Grand Rapids, 1 goal early season losses to Wayzata and Hopkins:

5. Mahtomedi: Could argue them ahead of Hermantown: Two losses split with H-M and bad loss to STA. They have a rematch with them this season. Recent convincing wins over Hastings, Hill-Murray, and Stillwater.

6. EGF: Key wins, Blaine, Breck, Split with Bemidji, Split lost 2-1, early in the season, 4-1 in rematch, Split with GF Red River (bad loss 5-0, won rematch 4-1) lost to Hermantown 3-0.

7. Blaine: Depends on which team shows up! 7-0-1 since their loss to EGF. Playing much better. Some bad losses early in the season.

8. Wayzata: Up and down season, playing difficult schedule but not much better than a .500 team in an excellent conference. Inconsistent at best: Moral victories: Close games against LVN and Edina, Beat Hermantown by a goal. Lost to Moorhead, Holy Family, Grand Rapids.

9. Minnetonka: Another inconsistent team in a difficult conference, tied Edina, played STA close one time, Losses to Holy Family, Moorhead, Armstrong cooper.

10. Breck: Good schedule: No huge wins: Did beat Holy Angels and Holy Family: Lost to the two top A teams above them EGF, Mahtomedi, and also lost to Moorhead.

I wonder what others think of that

If I were to combine the LPH top 20s to come up with a combined top 10 this is how I would do it: (http://letsplayhockey.com/latest-rankin ... chool.html)

1. LN
2. Edina
3. STA
4. Hermantown
5. HM
6. EP
7. EGF
8. ER
9. Blaine
10. Wayzata

Yes, I realize Mahtomedi just beat HM, but HM beat Mahtomedi just as convincingly at Aldrich earlier this season.

I probably tend to put more value on later season games. I think games the second half of the season tend to be a better test of teams. I also think this is a down year for AA.
