It will be an interesting Southwest Conference season, Redwood is good, Luverne is good, Waseca tied Century (who beat Mayo 7-0 tonight) LSHSP will be ok, New Ulm is always in the mix as well. There is a decent chance 3A is better than 1A, hockey is really improving in that area.

Which one played?

Looks like there are a couple interesting games in 3A tonight. Redwood and LSH/SP/TCU should handle their opponents with ease but the other two games I can see going either way. I would suspect Litch to be the favorite over New Ulm and can Marshall upset Luverne giving them their first big win in their new arena.

Litch @ New Ulm

Luverne @ Marshall

Redwood @ Worthington

Fairmont @ LSH/SP/TCU

Litch still the top seed?? Looks like Luverne and New Ulm are the one and two seeds!

Goalie controversy in Luverne? Both playing unbelievable!

Lol New Ulm lost to two terrible teams before beating LDC on their home ice, they haven't even played on the road yet (1-2-1). Luverne and Redwood should be considered the class this year a week and change into the season. But shouldn't you be watching junior hockey or something?

I won't discount the Orono win, but the rest of the schedule to date is the same ol' same: the other 3 wins against teams cumulative record of 4-8; 3 of those 4 wins against winless teams. 7 W games remaining on the schedule.

Nah, I will be center ice tonight watching Matthews take on the Wild. 😉

I think goldy might be reconsidering himself by saying that redwood valley is a two seed?

They have absolutely nothing besides one player. If luverne wouldn't of taken so many penalties it was a 10 goal game!

Same arrogance I see. Game hasn't been over that long, you guys finally upgrade from dial-up to DSL internet? I seem to recall a 5 goal victory for Luverne at the same time last year against the same team they played tonight. But you already know how that turned out the second matchup.

Goldy, thought you and Whiner were buddies now! Anyway, shots were 34-8 despite Redwood having a man advantage for at least 12 minutes. Whiner might be right this time, Redwood didn't look too good. Maybe just a bad night?

Does Luverne have a chance to get back to the prominence of a few years back?

More than a chance. They have a real coach now.

It is common to miss the first time when replacing someone so good.

I just hope for his sake he can help these players develop at the high school level so nobody has to go after him at a youth board meeting

Being serious now though I think he was a good hire, but he doesn't have nearly the talent to work with that the previous two coaches did.

If we are talking about Luverne... Never. One state title appearance and no banners from that appearance.

Imagine if the new coach was struggling. Whiner would either be calling for his head or no where to be found. Then again looking at the Sioux Falls season so far I don't blame him for taking an interest in high school hockey.

Why don't you stop by and change Joe's oil for him? It may be a bit low? He still has a redwood for you!

Nah. Drawing up some big Redwood Valley cardinal magnets to cut out and put on the doors of our cars.
