So if Cretin hasn’t earned the #1 seed in 6AA, who has? Edina? They’re likely to finish the season under .500 and got worked over at times throughout the season. Benilde? The team that was just recently destroyed by Edina, Hill, and was getting ‘seal-clubbed’ (your words) by STA before making the game mildly interesting. Wayzata? I believe they lost by 4 to Blake and have been outscored something like 12-2 in two games against EP.

Granted Cretins schedule is soft. But they’ve easily won most of their games. Having a tough schedule doesn’t just automatically give you a higher seed. You sort of need to win with a tough schedule to make a compelling argument.

Agreed that all the 1-4/5 and 2-3 matchups will be good.

Forest Lake had some decent results this year. And so I expected CDH to win, but not crush them. At this point, Cretin has earned the #1 seed in their section.

Does anyone know why the Saint Cloud/Saint Cloud Cathedral game was canceled tonight? Looks like the Cathedral JV team played Sartell just prior to the SC/SCC varsity game, then was canceled about 30 minutes prior to puck drop.

Ha. Maybe I'm being a little hyperbolic, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a game with less flow. East had over 30 penalty minutes, while Cloquet took five of their own. Moreover, both teams' PPs are awful, so not a single PPG was scored, and each team gave up a shorty. The Hub isn't totally right in saying they were 0-for-16 as there was a a 5-and-10 and some coincidentals in there, but it was still quite bad. And most if not all of the penalties were entirely legitimate, so this isn't on the refs for being overly ticky-tack at all. Each team managed a too many men penalty, there was dumb cheap stuff by Cloquet near the end, a blatant 5-and-10 from East...it was just gross. There were some benchings on the East side as a result, including to one of their top scorers. The overall result was an ugly turn for East after stringing together maybe their 4 best periods of the season over the course of the Rapids game and the first period of this one. I'm cringing at the thought of this rematch in two weeks in the 7AA quarterfinals (and not because East might lose...just because of how it might go down).

Nothing. Forest Lake won't be in the mix to reach the state tournament, let alone do something once they get there.

Cretin played absolutely nobody. Their 1 v 4/5 game in Section 6AA should be interesting.

Oh good, so I'm not crazy. I suspect we will find some paper tigers in the next 2 weeks.

Result isn't surprising, but the margin may be, although as you mentioned Alex has been very up and down during various stretches of their season.

8AA will be interesting, I still think Roseau should be the #1 seed at this point, but Rogers may be a touch underrated.

My only argument here is that there are three 30-second commercial breaks per period on My9. Not "every other faceoff". Unfortunately there are not TV-timeouts allowed for regular season HS games. It really stinks when we go to a break and miss a goal. I don't like it either, but we gotta pay the bills. Heck, they gotta pay me! I don't do this for free!

I thought Rogers would be a year or two away from being really competitive, but they are already a dangerous team. It’s hard to see where Rogers falls in 8AA with zero section games, but they should be the 3 seed at worst. There’s so much young talent on the roster.
