Im not much of a North Dakota fan but Minnesota defineatly missed out on some young guns, T.J. Oshie being the top one...Instead of going after players likes R.J. Anderson and Stoa and even blake Wheeler for that fact...They missed out on Niskanen and Gergen of UMD, Chorney, Lee and OSHIE of UND...I think that the Gophers recruiting class is just as good as North Dakotas...GOPHERS 2005 RECRUITS = OVER RATED...All they got was Kessel!!!!!!!!

I go to school at UND and i have season tickets. From watching Oshie play all season i think he still needs work. He is not ready to move on at least for a couple of years. He has been getting bumped down in the line. Yea he throws his body around but he doesnt know how to control it, he just flops everywhere. He is a good player ill admit that, im not tryin to bash him im just explaining what ive seen throughout the season. And you missed UND's best incoming freshman, Toews is definitely a bigger asset to the team then Oshie.

i watched oshie play in the state tourney last year and to be perfectly honest i didn't think he'd be ready for college yet, but he's definitly suprised me, he's had an outstanding year.
Thocky, i agree the Gophers missed out on some good recruits. Their freshman class isn't overrated though, they are all producing and doing well. You forget too that Peter Muler should be with the gophers also, but left, that's another quality addition to the freshman class. North Dakota's freshman class is just as good as the GOphers tho.

Just because he has more goals then Toews doesnt mean he is better. A lot of Oshies goals were garbage goals, not much skill, he just gets set up from good linemates.

a problem I see a lot up here in warroad about criticism of TJ playing for the sioux is that they expect to see the exact same thing they saw when he played for WHS...leading scorer in state runner up for mr hockey outrageously good leader....it's just strange to not hear "leading scorer in the WCHA/Nation" and top honors and other stuff, people are just used to comparing TJ to other highschool players in a smaller range than more adults he's playing against now

how can u think tj oshies goals are garbage goals?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?....u need to open your eyes SiouxNut....for instance the first game against UMD last week did you not see his goal????....that was a beautiful backhand....and talk about puck patience.....he is 1000000 times better than toews...end of discussion

I wouldn't say they are all garbage goals either, but I will agree I think he needs a couple more years of college hockey. I think he will be a success at the next level, but not yet. He is better then Toews but I wouldn't say that much better. They are both very good and look for them to have big years next year with UND.

Nope, BB, you're exactly right. I screwed up, when viewing the regular season champs at uscho.com, I didn't notice they hadn't updated for the past two seasons. Guess they got busy.

But the general point I was making was that the McNaughton is a nice feather in a team's cap and not much more.

On the other hand, I think the Gophers should approach the NCAA's with the attitude that they just need to show up...heh heh.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005
Egomaniac since 2006

Nobody listened to me ealier when i wrote Toews was a bigger player then Oshie. Oshie has kind of leveled off a little bit towards the end of the season, and Toews has become the hero of the team. Toews is a much better player when it comes to tourny time. Oshie would be good if he stayed on his feet more. His balance is horrible he just throws himself around uncontrollably. I would put money down that this tourny Toews makes a bigger impact then Oshie does, without a doubt!!!! Does everyone just ride the bandwagon, or do u all just like his name (like every girl at this school). But this is just my opinion, and im totally biased to every SSM player on the team, they carry UND. personally i think Duncan is a more solid player then Oshie even tho his numbers may not show it.

Oshie works hard and he takes bodies out of the way and that might be why hes falling all over but hes taking the body... why not Toews?

looking forward to tonight's game! go sioux and gophers!

Good for Toews. OSHIE played great, made the Dmen on HC look like a fool twice but he didnt score but hey it was fun to watch him. I didnt see Toews do much... Oshie took the body when they were going right at him. Congratulations to the Freshmen on Sioux over the weekend. Impressive.
