Royal Elk

Post by Puckguy »

C'mon Royal Elk, it has nothing to do with USA Hockey, it has to do with Minnesota Hockey and Tim Sweezo protecting his turf. Districts 4 & 5 have been paired in the Silver Regional for almost 10 years. Why is anybody's guess(?) as they are never competitive. But its not MacMillan holding down that spot its Sweezo, so at least get that portion of your argument right.

By the way, Buffalo did develop a very good varsity team two years ago, and also contributed to the Elks roster with three youth players. Go figure, but I know TS does not recruit. Even has affadavits to prove it. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Minnesota Hockey had it's feet put to the fire in '97. The northern teams no longer wanted to travel south for Regional tournaments but no one wanted to give the metro another berth, so the Silver Region was born - giving districts 4 and 5 a Region to themselves.

I've heard rumblings that this may change in the near future. Another district (metro) may be added to the mix. And from what I hear Sweezo is the one making the push. Puckguy, I have always respected your posts, but you may have limited knowledge on this one or simply an axe to grind with Sweezo.

As for Buffalo, they're trying to build a strong program. Region finals in HS two years ago (lost to Jefferson 3-1) after losing the Birkeland brothers and goaltender Dusty Hall to Elk River. MacMillan does a great deal to build his program. Bottom line is that even though Buffalo is in a weak district/region, MacMillan doesn't lace 'em and really doesn't have a say in where his team plays. I believe the Buffalo association has been trying to leave district 5 for the past few years so they can play a more competitive league schedule.

Let's not turn this into a youth hockey message board. The big show is coming up in less than 48 hours. Let's all keep our eye on the ball.

A Bantam

Post by hockeybb24 »

I'm a A Bantam Goalie for ssp. We played Rochester North this year n they were unreal. Good Skating team, Physical, and Agressive. There goaltending was that great but they outshot us 57-5 in a 2-0 loss. I predict Rochester too come out and win state.

I am guilty of limited knowledge. Thanks for setting the record straight as it is not a youth hockey board. No axe to grind with Sweezo or MacMillan.

See you at the Xcel!

I think the only reason that Edina beat Moorhead is because they ended the game with 4 minutes left in regulation. The Edina team NEW that once their ice time was up, it was the end of the game, regardless of the time on the scoreboard. This is something moorhead didnt know, that is the reason edina "beat" moorhead. So really that shouldnt even count as a game...should it??

Moorhead beat Roseau all 3 times they played this season. The last time was in the VFW regional championship. Moorhead won 3-2 with the winning goal coming in the final minute. Roseau unfortunately did not have a very good weekend at the MAHA districts. Prior to that weekend, Roseau had only lost four games, 3 to Moorhead, where they had closed the gap, and one I believe to Stillwater earlier in the season.

virginia

Post by hockeyman15 »

Well i think all the teams had great seasons. As I watched the games all year I thought that Virginia had a great year. They worked hard and were very dedicated, and for the first time in 12 years made it to the regional tourny. Thats not all though, they made it to the finals loosing to hermantown.(were winning going into the 3rd 3-2 but a really chincey goal let in by the goalie from the center red line changed things a little) soon after a penalty and a short handed goal was scored. Hermantown won 6-3 after an empty net goal. They also got runner-up in the VFW tourny, and they won the Greenway tourny. They played one he// of a season i thought. The beat Grand Rapids 5-6 times they played and the one time they lost was in the beginning of the year and by one goal. They also beat Duluth East in the Regional tourny, and was the first team in three years to score 9 goals on the team.Did anyone else see them play?
