My much anticipated rankings and here they are!

JGB TOP 10

1. White Bear Orange - Key Wins: EP black, 6-0 over tonka, 6-1 over Cent., Burnsville, Tartan, and 5-1 over Roseville. A late game down in EP red is a scar, and on neutral ice they beat ER by 2.

2. Burnsville - Key wins: EP red, edina, centennial, and went to elk river and beat the elks. Losses to WBL Orange and SSP keeps them out of the top spot.

3. EP-Black/RED - I seriously spent the last 5 minutes trying to figure out which team to put where, i combinded them and put them at third. Nice victory vs WBL Orange, and tie vs the elks.

5. Elk River - After seeing them play i cant see them above these top teams. However they also have a favorable schedule to finish out only having to play two other top 10 teams, Centennial and Tartan.

6. Hastings - Perhaps this is lack of respect here or maybe its because the top three teams from D8 cant make up thier minds who is the best team. Until we play Hastings on the 30th of this month in their tourney, i have no idea.

7. Tartan - Still undefeated in league play, but was stung by WBL Orange in the superrink tourney, and had to score with a second left to tie N. St. Paul. Bummer for them is that they have Orange on the 23rd then play the Elks the next night. Wait thats the same as Rosevilles last two games. Their schedule is cake after that till burnsville. What no games vs either EP team? You guys got it made!

8. SSP - Very Nice win vs. Burnsville, despite the fire alarm going off and such. I put you hear only because of your loss to Hastings and some inconsistancy. Oh and i havent seen you play at all. This spot could very well belong to Rocheste Red also.

9. Roseville - Haven't been able to beat a team above them in standings yet, but has played everybody tough. Never been down by more than a goal going into the third period and survived 4 games with out top scoring threat had been a part of 31% of thier total offense. The team rallied around each other and contrary to what MNHockeyObserver says we need more from the "Black" helmets in order to go far in playoffs.

10. Rochester Red - A quality 1st place run this weekend, behind Roseville despite a 2OT victory over them, because it was their first game of the year and had two top players DQ'd in begining of third period.

Close but no cigar:

Centennial - Show a little class, nobody needs to beat a team 18-1.
IGH - With the inconsistancy i cant put ahead of anybody. Tied a bad team and almost lost to MV white....eek. Appear to have a good coach and will turn it around.
White Bear Black - Losses to Edina and Brookly Park will land you down here.
Minnetonka - Cant put you in there yet. If you have tied St. Louis Park, then you have lost to roseville by 5. Or at least thats how its worked so far, check the schedule and dont feel offended.

WHEW! now back to my first night off in 10 days!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... oachGuy at: 1/20/04 8:21 pm

HAHAHAHA - It's been a while since I've had a good laugh like that. Fear not, it was a good laugh. My laugh was at your brilliance in solving the EP problem we all seem to be having. Congratulations to CoachGuy who seems to have successfully combined them into one until they either do something to split, or play each other for the honor. I think it works perfectly.

And I can get on your bandwagon about the "black helmets." There are more of them and team play will play a big role. Love the top-10. Can't wait 'til next week!

Very amusing..

Post by RinkRat22 »

I too find some good old fasion humor in these rankings. You put a lot of thought into those 10, CoachGuy, you should be proud - those were some of the best argurements yet.

One note, if you DO combine the EPs - there would be no use in playing any games vs them becasue they'd win them all (remember last years U16 team went somehting like 34-1) there only loss was to some Soviet Team - in Russia!

But the arguement is a quality one due to the fact that both teams have lost to different opponents. I believe that Red has more fire power, yet Black plays a better system and is well-coached <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

It'll be interesting to see where things shake out next week. There are alot of games on the slate. And please do not tell me that Tartan can run through the rest of their schedule without a blemish. They have yet to prove a thing!

where's rave?

Post by RAVECOWBOY »

I am sorry to burst everyones bubble except for the one guy who included rave in the top ten. Rave got third in albert lea tourney killing white bear lake 5-0! They seem to get more consideration because the other white bear team is good, but in all reality they are not good at all!!!!!!!!!!! Rave may have lost to Minetonka but hmm lets see who coulda been missing? maybe some key players?? im pretty sure rave has won some key games! Alright I am done with my rant, does anyone agree with me???? you should!

OK, so you lost to tonka w/o some key players, what happened against Brooklyn Park? And a squeaker with MV white?

Like i said in the other thread, you'll need to knock off a top team in order to leapfrog the teams in front of you...Some people dont even have Roseville and Centennial in thier top ten because D8 teams are playing amazing lately too. Its a tight race and youll need to find a way to stand out.

Rave continued

Post by RAVECOWBOY »

A very good response, I respect that. As a comment on Brooklyn park, not to try to make the same excuse but i am being very truthfull, rave was missing many for that game as well. that was early in the season and many were missing due to trips and family issues. I will agree that rave needs a big win and i can guarentee it will happen. They play white bear, tartan, elk river, and one other ranked team in the next five days! Look out! Rave is coming!!!! In fact, i believe rave has some of the best players in the state on their team. A very solid goalie as well. No more flukie games will be given up!!!!!!!

To Coachguysucks: nice user name, could you be less creative?? If I answered your question about who and where I live would require me to break my client's trust and is protected under attorney-client privledge. Besides if I told you, I'd have to kill you (just a mafia joke, please don't report me) Fact is I watch plenty of hockey and have been around long enough to know who is good in this league and who gets on here and just rants.

As far as Mr. Rave-y goes, I appreciate your words of confidence and I am sure everyone has an off night and perhaps you DID have a few guys out vs your recent opponents, but one or 2 guys does not cut it down the stretch! I wish you luck and I hope you can bring your A game to the MHL playoffs, let alone find one.

This "all-star" that the rave has isn't an "all-star" at all but yet in fact a pu$$y. He sure does sound good when he talks about himself on the internet, but when he steps on the ice it is a totally different story. He likes to talk about how good he is in third person. In reality no one would come onto this message board and talk about how good Jake is, so he had to talk in third person to pretend people talked about how good he is. His full name is Jake Brunsberg and he can't skate worth a lick. I personally along with my varsity teammates enjoyed trying out against him because it wasn't very hard for us to skate around him and it made us look like the "all-stars" not him. If i knew his number i would tell you so you could light him up, but i don't. But don't worry our varsity team will get him for you when we scrimmage them.
~Peace

Please keep Burnsville out of the top ten. We are falling apart at the seams. Including the Albert Lea Tounament we have lost 4 of our last 5. Until we start playing like we were when we started 10-0 keep us out. It's getting ugly. Hopefully we can turn it around against W.B. Black tonight. Should be interesting.

You are full of more crap than the RAVECOWBOY!! Tough string, fine. Players out, happens. But your Blaze are still a quality group and will be just fine with your leadership. They won't be #1, but they are still worthy of the Top 10. Sorry I can't comply with your request, but the Blaze will be in the Top 10 when I get around to picking it.

Do you have a practice coming up? Do something non-hockey with the kids to get their minds out of the rut. Football on skates, or boot hockey for half the practice. Something to put the fun back in place. I appreciate your confidence in me and my squad. However, at the present time we are not playing like a top ten team. And yes, we have had our best player missing for the last two games and bla bla bla, but we need to be able to win without him. He was not happy when I spoke with him yesterday, he will be back tonight and ready to go. I'll give you an update tommorrow on our game tonight.
BVILLE -

..of what was said by MHO...All great teams fall. It doesn't matter who is #1 or top 10 in Dec, Jan or even early Feb. The goal is to peak at the right time and whomever wins the Region Tourney on March 5-7 in Plymouth (?) is the best team of the year for this level. Keep those guy's heads high they have come too far to lay down now..

Hastings - Not afraid to take on the MHL teams in scrimmages. Should finish undefeated in D-Eight. Remaining Challengers: (none)

4. EP Black - Starting to roll. Beating lesser opponents soundly again. Big matchup w/Red on 2/19. Remaining Challengers: Chaska, Tonka, EP Tourney, EP Red

5. Tartan - Hiccup against Elk-town. Lucky scheduling to avoid both EP teams (not saying they are afraid, they didn't have a choice). Remaining Challengers: Brooklyn Park, Centennial, Tonka, Bville

6. Ladies and gentleman, boys and ravecowboy....Here is....The top Ten according to EzCode Parsing Error: size=5]COA

JGB TOP

1. EP Red - So the way i see it there is nothing wrong with jumping on the band wagon! Jumping two spots due to some losses and some ties.

2. EP Black - A quality squad, who i have no reservations putting at #2

3. WBL Orange - What a differance a week makes eh? Drop from the top spot, but tie to Roseville and 2-1 loss to Tartan won't drop you that far.

4. Hastings - R-E-S-P-E-C-T, ok i move you up two spots, despite loss to Edina in proctor. The domination over everybody else helps move you up.

5. Tartan - Nice revenge game vs. WBL orange. JGB Top Ten

1. EP Black & EP Red - Both deserve the #1 spot

3. Hastings - Haven't seen them play yet but will get a chance to in the hastings tourney coming up, it should be a great tourney, good teams participating in it.

3. Elk River - beat EP Red and WBL Orange but recently lost to Rave. Very solid squad. They are also in the hastings tourney.

5. WBL Orange - recent loss to Tartan and tie with Roseville puts them here

5. Roseville - Good team, has played very good in the past few games.

7. SSP - win against burnsville, even though bville is in a drought, beating them is still something to brag about

8. Tartan - After seeing them play, they aren't good enough to be in the top 5, and because of their schedule strength. The moment they played a solid team (Elk River), they got crushed. Guaranteed if Roseville played them again, Roseville could easily beat them the same as ER did.

9. Centennial - good team, losses only to ranked teams.

10. Burnsville - recent slump has caused them to drop a fair amount of spots. However, they still have the potential to be in the top 10.
