bodycheck
Since youre the one who brought up central minnesota not knowing good hockey, and you obviously are from Duluth, then you should think about what youre saying? Duluth Denfield, Duluth Central, Duluth Marshall? Dont get give yourself too much credit. Its gonna be fun watching you eat your own words, because this isnt gonna be a 4 goal hockey game.
--Changing my opinion...
SCC - 4
DM - 1

ps. everyone can play this game, so how about we grow up?

Wow, didn't see that one coming, nice comeback. Why dont you just leave this board because no one likes your negativity.

ps. seeing as your 12 years old, what team do you play for?

Re: bodycheck
Anyone who knows hockey knows that if Marshall does loss that it will not be more than one goal. It is just crazy to think that DM will lose by three of four goals.

And don't forget Marshall has been the strongest team in this section from the beginning, they are not going to go down easily!

Marshall is hot right now. Geissler is on, and is pumped up after two shutouts in a row and that goal, he scored. Geissler even got a cake and posters today at school. Everyone at Marshall is ready for this game, and have the confidence that they can win. Even though it is an away game the band and a lot of the school is coming down. DM will have a lot of fans.

It is stupid to think Marshall will lose, and lose by a lot. With 9 seniors, a lot who missed the state team three years ago want this. I know SCC wants it but, so does DM. If DM plays their best, they will win, there is no question. SCC better hope DM's game is not on!

Re: DM vs. SCC
===2A CHAMPIONSHIP===

1) DULUTH MARSHALL (16-8-1) vs

2) ST CLOUD CATHEDRAL (24-4)

Road to the Final:
MARSHALL – def. Pine City 4-0, def. #5 Sauk Rapids 5-0
HIBBING – def. #10 Duluth Central 3-2, def. #3 Mora 6-0

Duluth Marshall defeated St Cloud Cathedral 5-2 in their lone meeting this season on January 3rd.

I think we’ve learned a lot about these two teams just by looking at their two playoff games thus far. Marshall might have a little concern at their lack of offensive punch. Scoring just 4 against as brutal Pine City team was alarming, and they didn’t do much to alleviate those concerns with a 5-0 win over another stinker in Sauk Rapids. So the offense may not be firing on all cylinders only averaging 4.5 goals against to very overmatched opponents. Now the good news about those scores are the zeroes in the ‘goals allowed’ column. I said previously that Casey Geissler was playing as well as any other keeper entering the playoffs… and he’s stayed hot through the first two games. Hekc, he was even credited with scoring a goal against Sauk Rapids. After making a save, the puck went to a corner. With a delayed penalty forthcoming, the Sauk Rapids keeper left his net and headed to the bench. He got to the bench just as the forward who had the puck in the offensive end tried to make a hard pass up to the point. The pass was errant, cleared the zone, and skidded all the way down the ice and into the empty net. Since Geissler was the last Hilltopper to touch the puck, he was credited with the goal. It’s the first goal by a keeper that I can remember seeing, reading or hearing about in the Minnesota playoffs. So now as an apparent two-way threat, Geissler is even more dangerous.

Meanwhile, St Cloud Cathedral is starting to look more and more like their remarkable 22-4 regular season mark was a farce. While Marshall was tangling with powers like Hermantown, Superior, Cloquet, Lake of the Woods, Totino-Grace, Breck, Blake, etc… Cathedral was whiling away time with games against cupcakes like Rogers/Zimmerman, Morris/Benson, Sartell, Prairie Centre and Willmar. In fact, it’s likely that Cathedral’s toughest opponent this season was Marshall, who handed then one of their four losses on the season. The only real challenging stretch this season was a regular season ending two-game sweep on the Range over Virginia-MIB and Eveleth-Gilbert. SO now we’re in the playoffs, and Cathedral nearly was upset by a very game Duluth Central team in the first round. They held the Trojans off 3-2, but that’s way too close for a game between a #1 seed and a #10 seed. They fared a bit better in the semifinals with a 6-0 win, but again, it was against a very weak Mora-Hinckley-Finlayson team.

The only thing that may seroously affect Marshall’s success is the fact that the game is being played on Cathedral’s home ice, the St Cloud MAC Arena. Please hold all jokes consisting of “MAC Arena” and the “macarena”. But the ‘Toppers have been road warriors this season, playing 10 of their final 13games on the road, and compiling a 6-3-1 record that included wins over Superior and both Central and Denfeld.

So we know Marshall plays well on the road, Cathedral is not nearly as good as their record dictates, Marshall goalie Casey Geissler is red-hot, and Marshall hasn’t allowed a goal thus far in the playoffs… sounds like Marshall’s and easy pick in this one.

THE PICK: Duluth Marshall 4 – St Cloud Cathedral 1

This article is from news 3.

.....
SCC's toughest team they played this year was St.Cloud Tech, not DM. They got in penalty trouble that game and Tech made them pay. When SCC played DM earlier in the season, Cathedral was coming off a 1-2 Holiday Tourney and not playing their best game. SCC started Ziemann in that game and he gave up a few soft goals. With Rindelaub playing as good as he is now, he is the best goalie in the section.

DM has played a tough schedule and they are playing really well. The firepower that they have for a class A school is amazing. All those seniors make up a solid core with a lot of experience. Their defense is very tough and SCC is going to have a hard time getting to Geissler. SCC's defense is very solid as well and they are going to have to slow up DM's speed.

Overall prediction is that these teams are pretty much evenly matched. DM may play a tougher schedule but its the section 2A championship and these kids are playing their hearts out. Its going to be close... and as before my prediction stands SCC will prevail due to the home ice advantage. Plus all the SCC kids were in that championship game last year, they did not graduate a senior last year. So they have experience in a game that has that much implication on it.

SCC 4
DM 2

Marshall Record
hey 2Ahockeydude, I don't know where your information is coming from but I have been to every Duluth Marshall game this year and they have only lost 4 of 12 games on the road(lost 5 of 15 @ home). 1.Totino Grace 6-3 back in the beginning of December 2. Rochester Lourdes 3-2 in overtime. 3.Hayward Wisconsin 2-1. 4.Shattuck 13-2 (ouch). I know that anything can still happen but if Marshall plays the way they played on Saturday and S.C.C. plays the way they did(I also went and watched the S.C.C. vs. Mora game), I think that Marshall should win by at least 2, giving Marshalls speed and awesome defense. It's going to be a great game, and I can't wait til Thursday.!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Re: Marshall Record
DMhockey,
You can try all you want but people will always say that DM plays bad at away games. This started a few weeks ago. If you ask me people just wanted to find a "weakness", so they can argue that their team can beat DM.

I agree with the score you have. DM will win and by enough, atleast by two.

marshall ? Cathedral
Can anyone tell me where these two clubs get their players from ? Are most of Marshalls players from Duluth or do they pull from a larger area ? And Cathdedral too, from St. Cloud or larger area ?

MKMB
Marshall is hot right now (yes they are). Geissler is on (8 saves against Pine City and 11 save against Sauk Rapids), and is pumped up after two shutouts in a row and that goal, he scored (he of credit for it does not mean he scored it). But I do believe Duluth is a better team than SCC. Duluth by 4.

scc vs dm
everyone seems to forget that dm is the home team in the game. rink size is similar to marslakeview arena and dm coaches have last change. all the talk about scc having home ice advantage is probably just that. a lot of talk. good luck to dm

Mac
Have you ever played at the Mac??i am just curious i am guessing no. You can ask any player that has ever played there "even players from SCC" that the mac will be home ice advantage for them i have also played at the Mars and the only thing that have in common is that they are both kinda small but the Mac is alittle smaller and the ice is as slow as can be which is perfect for SCC ask LU4 he even said on the chat room that it is that slow. We played Scc at home last year in our last game and won 5-3 gave up 2 goals in the last 30secs with 4th liners out and than we played them in the section finals at the Mac and it was 3-2 double OT it was the section finals but still they have a way bigger edge there and last year we had last change but there coaches will still get the match ups that they want they are a good staff in the pt that they get always have a good plan i dont know if they can coach well but they always can outsmart other coaches

Re: scc vs dm
gopher35,
A lot of DM players are from Duluth. Some are from surrounding areas. Most of the players from Duluth Marshall live in the east end of Duluth.

Duluth Marshall as a whole has students from all over northern mn, most from Duluth.

the mac
The mac's ice is very very slow and the glass takes very weird bounces some times. Huge advantage to SCC, plus i think SCC will have more fans.

Re: the mac
SCC will probably have more fans. But Marshall will also have a lot. The band is going down with is a good chunk of Marshall. Marshall also are having fan buses. a lot of students will go down on those. All together SCC does have the advantage in the number of fans. How many can DM have when you take about 100 or so for just the band hockey players and cheerleaders. After that you only have about 200 kids left to go as fans. Everyone at Marshall is pretty excited for this game. Should be a good game between the fans!

SCC vs DM goalies
There is an important factor in the Final Round at the MAC in St. Cloud.
SCC's goalie Rinde has come off of a shut out game stopping 26 shots and even after being in the hospital that morning for loss of fluids. While DM's goalie Geissler has only faced 20 shots in the past 2 games he wont be as prepared as SCC's goalie. Also the only reason the first time they met it was not a close came is that SCC palyed their other goalie who let in 2 goals within the first 2 minutes of the game. My predicition SCC 3 to DM 1.

Another important part of the game
With all the talking about the fans there is one very important part of the playing of the game. DM may have a whole load of people coming down but will they be into the game as much as SCC. I don't think so, SCC has a couple of hardcore fans in the stands. One of which has been kicked out of 2 games for being to vulgar and the other was for fighting. thats right a fight, it wasn't a major one but this hardcore fan cares about the game so much he doesn't care what others think of it. He has also been the victim of many opponent players to SCC. He has been flicked off, gotten pucks shot at him, but he is unrelenting. It will not only be a good game on the ice but also in the stands.

Who wants it??
You know, there is no reward for the fan who can talk the biggest game here.. (ask Mora) It's going to come down to who, as a team, wants it more.... The fans will help, but it's still going to be played on the ice with 40 kids, 8 coaches and two refs....
Their season record - doesn't matter...
The last game - doesn't matter...
loudest band - doesn't matter....
dumbest fans - doesn't matter...
The only thing that matters will be who really wants this the most and is willing to battle for the W all the way to the end.... THAT MATTERS!!

I think that SCC wants it more, but only they can really make it happen...

SCC 4
DM 2

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Cathedral Win
I hope Cathedral beats Marshal just because the Hilltopper fans are so arrogant that they will win. Don't reply something about Mora because it doesnt matter anymore, their season is over.

SCC-4
Marshal-2

Travel Record
I apologize for the misleading post about the DM travel record. Where I was heading was their record against top teams when they have to travel more than an hour.. (Lourdes, SSM, I'Falls, etc...) I "believe" that the record is something like 2-5 in that case, but I could be wrong.. Travel is hard on a team...

RinkRat, I think you'll find that there is a lot of feelings like yours... Hey, you guys had a good run this year.. I still say that Mora was the most dangerous team in the playoffs, when they played well...

It's now down to the final 16 teams.. Every shift, every shot, every penalty, everyTHING is going to count.

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

goalies
I'm new to posting but read the board everyday to see what's up. I was noticing the fact that everyone seems to think Geisler is red hot, with two shutouts in a row it's hard to argue. I didn't see either game but only getting 9 and 11 shots that's like a cake-walk (I average 37 a game), and as good as DM's defense is I have a hard time thinking that these were great scoring opportunities. I did see Rindelaub play against Mora and he was outstanding, making a lot of saves that he probably shouldn't have, he's not going to give DM many rebound chances at all. I do agree with the statement that he's better prepared. SCC does have the home-ice and the better goalie.
SCC-4
DM-2

2a finals
im gonna have to agree with Number1HockeyFan about the die hard fans SCC has. there are a few of them that travel with the team everywhere. i know of at least 10 people that went up to cloquet to see the crusaders slaughter mora. i also have to say im sick of hearing the cockiness of the DM fans and team, they think this game will be another cake walk. we'll see what they think when theyre on the long road home to duluth<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil"> . im goin with SCC on this one.

4-2 empty net

SCC
I personally wish that SCC's student body would not post on here. Espically when half of them dont know the difference between a 2 line pass and icing.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Re: SCC
How are DM fans being cocky? Their team is good, the best in the section this year, seeded number one. Just because we say that DM will win is not being cocky. We all know that DM can lose! If you ask me it is being cocky by saying that SCC will beat DM by a lot.

You have to say the facts even if people don't want to hear them, DM is a very good team!
