Bagley-2

We lost in OT because for some reason we changed all 4 pk'ers at the same time... Hopefully get them tomorrow.
Their coach is pretty young, first year, I believe.
We will give him a pass on this one.

That's usually the coaching staff's fault.

..what 5 skaters wern't on the ice?....One thing about the game that I thought was funny was every time Lehrke skated the puck down the ice, the same defenseman held him cause he got burnt EVERY time....I think he got quite a few for it......it was pretty hilarious...but no matter who wasn't playing or who was hurt or whatever the excuse is...it was a fun game to watch....

My guess is it wasn't 5 skaters. Unless they broke team rules, I really don't see how it's possible they were missing 5 guys. They always make these excuses after a nice PR win. I find it rather humorous to be honest with you...

Any EGF fans want to jump on "bored" and name the 5 skaters that were missing and why?

Someone has thier wires crossed.
I believe the 5 skaters is in reference to a line change in the MB/Bagley game.
Its not all Park Rapids all the time :!: :)

Negative. EGF claims they were without their stud goalie and a flock of others. I'm waiting for approval, but I really doubt they were missing that many..PR was better last night which gets us nothing more than a higher seed when it doesn't matter. Wait til playoffs and we'll see what happens then...

Before today's action moves Park Rapids' big win to the historical archives, I would just like to extend the proverbial Olive branch and congratulate the players and their legions of supporters on their efforts in EGF.

Not people saying EGF is amazing or they are the best team in the state... And dont get me wrong but park did beat the wave last night, but if christanson would have been in net it would have never gone into OT and Park would have had a dissapointing ride home. Well take it or leave it those are just my two cents on things
nice job taking the easy way out, egf lost, thats the bottem line.

pr could say they would have had another goal or two if mickelson would have been playing.

And by the way lehrke has had multiple goals in every game he has played against christianson, i think their goalie played pretty well considering lehrke could have had 3 or 4 more goals for the amount of good chances he had

I haven't heard from TT Puckster yet, either he's in Baudette or he still hasn't come in from the ledge yet.

To the victor goes the spoils.
Right Schwangy :D :D :D :D :D

Just for the record, I did not guarantee an elves win.
In the EGF vrs PR thread, I said:

"I believe it all depends on what EGF team shows up.

In the sectional against TRF last spring, they lost their cool.

I believe that directly relates to the new Coaches ability to control the tempers

If Chupka can control them, then I see EGF winning by at least 3 goals.

It looked like they were playing a pretty even game with Roseau on Saturday. However, the boxscore indicated they got in to a lot of penalty problems throughout the game that finally did them in.

I also remember the Bemidgi box score showing a lot of penalties for the Wave (elves).

Does Chupka have control or not?

If not, the outcome is much less predictable.

EGF 5 - 2 - PR

Albeit for a different reason.

The Grand Forks Herald take is this:

BOYS HOCKEY: McMorrow wins it for Park Rapids
By Tom Miller, Herald Staff Writer
Published Saturday, December 15, 2007

Park Rapids sophomore defenseman Kevin McMorrow described the end of regulation Friday against East Grand Forks Senior High as heartbreaking.

It was an interesting choice of words as McMorrow provided the heartbreaking goal later in the game. McMorrow scored a wraparound goal with 31 seconds left in overtime to lift Park Rapids to a 6-5 win over the Green Wave at the East Grand Forks Civic Center.

“I grabbed the loose puck at the blue line and carried it in,” McMorrow said. “I saw a lot of bodies in the slot, so I brought it around the net and stuffed it. It was wide open.”

East Grand Forks Goalie, Dale Enright, eyes the puck before blocking a shot from Park Rapids during the second period Friday in the Civic Center in East Grand Fork. Herald photo by Sarah Voegele.
Park Rapids improved to 6-0, while the Green Wave dropped to 2-3.

“We were gassed,” Park Rapids coach Pete Stahnke said of overtime. “I'm sure they were, too. That was all guts. (Senior High) is a great team. We feel very proud to beat them.”

McMorrow's goal overshadowed Senior High's thrilling end of regulation.

The Green Wave pulled their goalie with 40 seconds left in regulation. From behind the net, Michael Lukkason centered the puck to Zak Aubol, who was open out front. Aubol one-timed it through goalie Mark Smith's five-hole with 13 seconds left to force overtime.

“We have to be able to control our emotions,” Senior High coach Cory Chupka said. “We can't get too high or too low.”

The teams traded goals throughout the game. The biggest lead was a brief 5-3 advantage for Park Rapids.

Senior High made it 5-4 less than two minutes later when Wikoff scored on a penalty shot. The Wave were awarded a penalty shot when Park Rapids defenseman Curtis Tolle froze the puck in the crease.

Zach Knapp, Zach Lehrke and McMorrow each scored two goals for Park Rapids.

Aubol and Joey Wikoff each scored two goals for the Green Wave, while John Grabanski had one.

Stahnke admitted the Wave entered overtime with plenty of momentum.

“Especially when our guys keep yelling for water,” Stahnke said. “To be honest, I was hoping to hang on and maybe Lehrke could bust free.”

Senior High goalie Dale Enright, who played in his first varsity game, made 27 saves.

The Green Wave's usual starting goalie, Alex Christiansen, sat the game for breaking team rules.

Smith made 31 stops for Park Rapids. "

Shots = 27 to 31

Irregardless of the goalie situation, the shots were pretty even. So I take it the game was also.

So Kudos to the boys from PR!!
I am all for more better teams in section 8. It just makes the whole section better.

But, yes as Shanty implied, still very painful.

Sorry, Schwangy, I had to say it.

I got to watch Hibbing and Greenway get swept by the Warriors who in 2 games gave up a total of 2 goals on 19 shots. Warroad held Hibbing to 8 total and Greenway to 11 total shot for the game. As for the EGF - PR game the rumor over here was EGF was without 5 players total...a starting goalie and 4 skaters. Was told the goalie and three of the skaters will be out for 4 games total for violating a team rule while one sat for grades. Other than the goalie I'm unsure of who the others were you guys at the game should have been able to tell by who wasn't playing. So PR did see a watered down version would it have made a difference doesn't matter they got the win on the day the game was scheduled.

Park was/is also missing 2 well rounded forwards. It will be interesting to see how they attribute to the team when they both get back in to action...I think 8a will be a fun one this year...

By next Saturday we will see how the section really shapes up. As Warroad took 2 Range teams playing fairly good hockey, one ranked 8 in PS2 this week 3 spots ahead of them out behind the woodshed and gave them an absolute whipping, the belt marks will be there for awhile. Scoring 12 goals on over 70 shots and giving up 2 goals on less than 20 shots between the two games. Warroad has TRF at home on Tuesday and EGF there on Friday.

Here's a funny one heard at West this weekend. Sounds like Warroad's insider in Bemidji was told by the BHS staff after Warroad came INTO their barn and handed them a 5 - 0 shellacking they believe they have better and more talented team. My thoughts on that are they better check to see what kind of shrooms are getting put on their post-game pizzas.

Here's a tip for Sioux Recruit read the post and digest it before you spew. I gave PR credit for the win on the date the game was scheduled and that's all that counts. Don't counter with well we were also missing 2, the team your a FAN (remember fan is short for FANATIC) of won bask in the glory.

This win means absolutely nothing. EGF was missing players and there best player there goalie. And not 5. 7 players. Go hear is a list of players missing. PR has nothin other that lerke.

MISSING PLAYERS

1. Christiason Starting G
2. Casey Wood 2nd line D
3. Nick Ohman 1st line D
4. John Peterson 3rd line D
5. Brandon Peabody 2nd line D left after 2nd peroid after the cheap shot from behind.
6. Cody Grassel. 3rd line D

7. Kody Viznor left after 2nd peroid. Best D-Man. 1st line.

So basically they beat half the EGF team. 2 of there forward were playing Defense. So to say there the better team is a joke. a 6-5 win in OT. Wait till sections.
