Hopkins 3 Armstrong 1
Hopkins has some sickness going through the locker room right now and one defender injured, so lines were juggled some and the girls really played tired and slow.

joe, is the box score right - 7 penalties called on Armstrong and none on Hopkins? Could be legit, but a little unusual when it's so one-sided... Also, I know that Armstrong has also been battling the flu bug, and they recently lost one of their better forwards for the season.

Hill Murray 3 Edina 2 OT

Edina went up 2-0, HM tied it 2-2 before end of the first. Teams played scoreless 2nd and 3rd. HM had a slight advantage in shots maybe 32-25? Final goal scored on a great effort by Hanah Brandt to get to the net on a kind of spin-a- rama to get off the boards and walked across the goal mouth goalie made first save not sure who got the goal Doyle or Harren or Brandt? Very fast and physical game. Edina protested HM's second goal not sure if it was a kicking issue or what concern was and came close to scoring late in regulation but it was waved off. Edina is a very good team and will do very well down the strecth.

Sounds like a great game! QRF had Edina at #5 and HM at #8 coming into this game with only a slight "rating" value in Edina's favor whereas KRACH said HM (#4) was a 1.091-to-1 favorite over (#5) Edina and LPH said same ranking wise as KRACH (same for all top-5 teams in fact LPH = KRACH)...

Doesn't only the 2nd game of the season count as a conference win. Or is that only in the Big 9 conference.

Game summary from the Star Tribune:

• HILL-MURRAY 3, EDINA 2 (OT): Melissa Doyle took matters into her own hands. The junior forward scored an unassisted goal 18 seconds into overtime, giving the Class 2A, No. 4 Pioneers a victory over No. 5 Edina in a nonconference matchup. The other four goals were scored in the first period. Katey Cowan scored one minute into the game and set up Christie Brauer's goal eight minutes later as the Hornets took a quick 2-0 lead. Hill-Murray's Casey Knajdek and Maggie McDowell scored two minutes apart late in the period to tie it at 2-2.

Grand Rapids/Greenway 4 Hopkins 3

Very good game. Hopkins was down 3-1 going into the 3rd and tied it up with six minutes left, then GRG scored with less than two minutes to go. Hopkins controlled the first and third periods but the second belonged to GRG where they scored two goals. Hopkins outshot GRG 37-28.
