I’d guess that the hockey aspect in the LSC will be tweeked for them. I can see where they would be allowed to remove North Shore and/or Proctor from the schedule. It is a great fit for all other sports.

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
Football in Minnesota no longer does conference scheduling. The MSHSL instituted District Scheduling as teams were leaving conferences to get away from powerhouses and thus leaving teams not being able to get full schedules.hadenuf wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 3:58 pmFootball is NOT listed as one of the sports in the 10-17-19 press release.elliott70 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:49 pmBut does it apply to football, I am thinking not.greenwayraider wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:35 pm Rapids finally got it right in hiring a coach. Rapids is fortunate to get him. Hope he’s in for the long haul. This program needs some stability after all these coaching changes the last number of years. Good luck Wade and staff!

I would have thought the independent schedule was the way to go. I assume there is an advantage in being part of a conference (financial) buteast hockey wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 2:01 pm https://www.superiortelegram.com/sports ... Conference
Rapids into the LSC???
Lee
I wonder why the LSC over the old IRC? I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the decision. Just looking for more info.
Re: They're kidding, right?
It’s got to be a money saving measure (for hockey) plus Hermantown, Duluth Marshall & Cloquet are in the conference (along with Denfeld, Superior, Proctor & the North Shore co-op) the first 3 being higher level conference opponents than any of the others (remaining in the traditional IRC) at least in year 20-21 & going forwardgrindiangrad-80 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 1:57 pmI would have thought the independent schedule was the way to go. Chiodo should be a good hire for Rapids. Proven track record and appeared well-regarded in Bemidji. Four days till practice...

That looks about right. Halloween has the talent. East the depth. CEC the goaltending. Elk has those 2 studs back in the fold.

KarlEast has spoken. CEC has its work cut out for them again. A Hermantown like schedule this year, or almost. No expectations. I’ll just cheer for my purple HARD! I’ll take a split with East and a home playoff game. That’s my holiday wish. I’m sure I’ll have diarrhea again this year the night we play Hermantown.

3 Andover
18 Grand Rapids
23 Duluth East
Elk River
-This is Andover’s window, period: the Huskies should be on par with where they were last season, while their competition in this section (namely East) is not. Beyond the clear number one, it’s an interesting section with rising Rapids, rebuilding East, a Cloquet team with something to prove, and Elk River, which has a couple of quality players. East and Andover have their section final grudge match on December 7.

Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers. I haven’t heard much about this hockey team this year. Would someone fill me in on the Marshall squad this upcoming season.

Don't know a lot but they do have 7 returning seniors with some good experience
D should be solid with
(excuse spelling)
Kleinshmidt-Pichetti
Mehling-Hoyum
Bachand
all with solid experience
(assuming pairings but that of course could change
A couple of scorers back in Omand Pichetti
goalie will likely be Wick - 10th grader but with several varsity games last year.
Not real high end power but enough solid players to be dangerous

Sounds like a Cloquet like team. I’m doubting they will be an easy out for Rapids, East, or CEC this year. Thanks, E7elliott70 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 1:51 pm Don't know a lot but they do have 7 returning seniors with some good experience

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
Offense is going to be a struggle for the Hilltoppers this year. They graduated 75% of their goals from a year ago. Oman is a good player but is the only returning forward who scored more than two goals, and he had five. Defense should be fairly solid with a lot coming back there.
They only have 20 total skaters in their program this year, so they cannot field a JV team. With 11 of those being Seniors, unfortunately the future of this once proud Program is anybody's guess. I'm only aware of 3-4 Freshman that are playing Bantams.

So. Grand Rapids win over Benilde very interesting. Duluth East at White Bear Lake the 29th. I’m so curious to see what Randolph has been creating.

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
Yes, very tough times at Marshall where we are on our 3rd coach in 3 years.
1st line
Dakota Oman (5-10-15)
Xavier McNulty (6-3-9)
Vance Johnson (2-4-6)
2nd Line
Brendan Pfahl (0-1-1)
Sam Aamodt (0-0-0)
Karter Mckinzie (0-0-0)
The 3rd and 4th lines would have issues playing in all the other local A programs so we fall off pretty quick.
Defense should be solid but not huge scorers. Also, size is smaller outside of Kleinschmidt and Bachand.
Sam Anderson should get the bulk of the time in the net, but all 3 are sophomores with Wick and Dirkers-Johnson and hard to see pucks with no JV.
Probably should have opted down last year when we could, but have replaced Minnetonka and Andover with Greenway and Eveleth-Gilbert so we should be more competitive, but a far cry from the team 2 years ago that won 17 games.
We can only hope to stay healthy and stay competitive. But yes numbers will dip even lower next year if no one moves in.
But then again we all send our kids here for the education and not for sports.
