Let the "north" conspiracy theories begin!! Looks likev Elk River got a raw deal!!
Yeah, real rough that they'll have to wear their red jerseys instead of their white ones in the semifinal. And that East has to play a team they beat by one goal in the first round (#7 Andover) instead of a team they put in running time (#6 Flake).
Mountains out of molehills...
Here's why East is the 2 seed: C-E-C, Duluth Marshall and Forest Lake all see Duluth East during the regular season and they don't see Elk River. Easier to place a team you saw than a team you didn't see. Plus, Elk River had to put East at 1 or 2. I get the Elk River scheduling issue, but there is no bias. If they just would have beat Duluth East there never would have been any question. It would have been Elk River, Grand Rapids, Duluth East - in that order.

Sure, it's not irrelevant. (Though probably less relevant when the team in question still doesn't seem to have settled on its lines anyway.)MWS coach wrote:Karl, don't discount last change. Randolph will be line matching all game.... Assuming both make it to semifinal
But even if the tables were reversed, this is hardly something I'd let rise to the level of a grievance.
Long live the North Conspiracy in 7AA. Who cares if a team south of Cloquet gets screwed? And while we're at it, let's move the state tournament to Amsoil and reinstate the Back Door.hermantown2000 wrote:Grand Rapids 1 East 2?

We're not greedy. You can keep the AA tournament in the Cities. We'll host the A tourney.mnmouth wrote:Long live the North Conspiracy in 7AA. Who cares if a team south of Cloquet gets screwed? No real difference between 2&3 seed. Had the top seed last year and didn't get it done with Mr. Hockey so let's try this. Elks were at full strength tonight and beat Hill 5-3 eng. 2 solid lines, dominated the first period, even second period then put them away. Only real issue was the needless penalties at times, had to kill off a 5:00 major. Stay out of the box and play hard smart hockey. Glad we didn't draw Andover.

Elks should have beat East to end any arguments, end of story. CEC a few years ago jobbed ER and put them at 4 is the only time I recall any major jobbing. Time to play.boblee wrote:Here's why East is the 2 seed: C-E-C, Duluth Marshall and Forest Lake all see Duluth East during the regular season and they don't see Elk River. Didn't really think you would fall right into my trap haha
No grievance, in the end just win no matter the seed or where the game is played. Just win baby!

Odd it may be, but the game I saw against ANdover was pathetic.. Worst I have ever seen them play, as it was pretty much a breakdown in every aspect. Special teams, horrible.. Defense, horrible.. Offense, Meh.... Goaltendingkarl(east) wrote:*Yawn*hermantown2000 wrote:Grand Rapids 1 East 2?

If East Plays their game as everyone knows they probably will this time of year, They should have a good semi and final game. Not looking to far ahead by any means, But would love to see another East/GR final

I wonder if Andover could actually beat east? 6-5 East won in ot in the regular season. If the Hounds defense has too many break downs then the Huskies could make it really scary!! Then again a year ago every one thought Andover had a chance because of Maddie Rooney. But the offense could not score!! Definetaly a trap game for East!!

First off, the game didn't go to overtime. East won it in regulation. Second, that was the 4th game of the year for East. East led the game 6-3 with just over 2 minutes left. They took a couple penalties late giving Andover a 5-3 pp for almost 2 minutes and their penalty kill at that time was awful. 4 of the 5 goals Andover scored were on the power play.hermantown2000 wrote:I wonder if Andover could actually beat east? 6-5 East won in ot in the regular season. As long as DE stays out of the box and plays anywhere near the level they have been playing the last 10 games they will win by 3 goals.

One goal was acutally a 6 on 3 since And pulled their goalie when it was 5 on 3.. SO one was 6 on 3 then 6 on 4 for the last two goals of the game

NO chance in this happening. Talent aside when your East you get Three Home Games in Sections, can't get any easier than that.hermantown2000 wrote:I wonder if Andover could actually beat east? 6-5 East won in ot in the regular season. Oh wait, maybe Hermantown gets the award for easiest ride to State, Three home games in the JV tournament = another State appearance.
