Its worth noting that GRG had 2 penalties compared to 8 for PHM . PHM HAS several very fine players and earned this victory . Hats off to them for a job well done . Goes to show ANYONE can get beat on a given night if you dont come to play.

Should be a good wake-up call for GRG. Better to get it out of your system now and hopefully learn from it.

I was not there, but this was like a playoff game, and this is how playoff games go. I have no worries. I would have been more worried if they didn't lose again in the regular season.

Keep in mind the shots were 32-11 GRG. It isn't like PHM came in and outplayed GRG. THey just did enough to win. Congrats to the Mirage, no doubt. However, it is not panic time for GRG. They are 18-2-1...I don't know why that would worry any of their fans. It was the perfect time for a loss. Regroup and peak again for the playoffs. There is nothing wrong.

Official shots last night were 33-11. My Minnesota math tells me the Lightning outshot the Mirage in a 3-1 favor. PHM came into that game with a 15-3-1 record, while the Lightning were 18-1-1. The Lightning of course fell to 18-2-1 snapping their 17 game winning streak and 18 game unbeaten streak. They still have the most wins in the state while playing a very tough schedule. If I told you in November that GRG would win 18 of its first 21, would you have believed me? The Lightning are fine. Thursday night will be an AWESOME hockey game. It will be senior night and the last time five of those girls play a regular season game on that ice. Lundquist, Vichorek will come in and try to ruin that. No doubt it will be a fabulous hockey game.

I’m no psychologist…. But I think Big Bob may be showing a slight hint of uncertainly….maybe a little crack in the proverbial dam. Is the magic from the slippers slipping away from the land or Dorothy? Huh….

Oh Oh Bob ...looks like their all drinking the cool aid.... Come on ...you never want to lose a game… for any reason. What lesson do you learn? That you’re vulnerable? Losing can be contagious. You just get back up and try again, that all.

Sometimes a big winning streak can be a bad thing. Was it here? I have no idea. But I know I played on a baseball team in high school that won a lot of games and was ranked #1 or #2 in the state most of the year and the focus kind of goes away when you are beating up on good competition. Do you ever want to lose? Absolutely not. Can a loss be a good thing? Absolutely. Ask any coach. It gives the staff a chance to point out weakness and get the kids to really work on those areas. It also is a great refocusing tool. You lose and think "I don't want this feeling ever again." Am I saying a loss is what I, all other fans/parents, and players wanted? No. Sometimes a loss can be exactly what the doctor ordered now. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back tonight vs. a very tough Cloquet club. I expect it to be a great game.

Talking to one of the players on the team, it sounds like they are getting reenergized, and putting things back into perspective. They now know that they aren't invincible, and can't take any team in their secting lightly. It sounds like this loss woke them up a little bit.

I found it interesting too, how the Lightning are still ranked #4 in the state (Understandable, yes), but PHM aren't even in the top 20...
