Woodbury Vs Hill
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
I work two jobs so my kids can attend private school -- because after helping in the classroom of their public elementary school (not woodbury) I was sick to death of seeing the teachers cramming the "entitlement" mentality into their heads. It was all about "what does the world owe me" not "thank god I've been given another day -- how can I give back".
I'm so sick of this ignorant argument and assumption that people send their kids to private schools only because of sports.
Yes, there are plenty of wealthy families at Hill, and other schools. But you might be surprised how many are just getting by.
Okay -- back to hockey talk!!

Here is what I dont understand: Why do you or does anyone el
I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm saying it's a disappointment to teammates and parents that these kids bolt. Why don't the future Hill kids go play in the Maplewood Athletic Association since that is where they will attend school?
I'm not whining. I'm reporting what I hear. Heck....I love having Cretin in the SEC. I welcome the challenge for the kids. Believe me....it's alot different beating Cretin than any other team in the conference.

Congrats to the Royals. You've had a great year & knocked off your private school neighbors. Hopefully you can sustain a successfull program unlike some others (see Tartan & Hastings). Your players and fans show a great deal of class unlike others (see Tartan & Hastings). Good luck against Edina tomorrow.
As an alum of Hill-Murray, I tend to take winning for granted. Year in & year out, Hill produces a winning program. More times than not they appear downtown St. Paul & are invloved in the "show". I understand the hate on HM, it is something that binds us together & makes us stronger. I'd rather be a part of a successfull program and have people take shots, then one that has nothing. Nice job Hill.

Hmmm.....just a little bit of info to add to the brain cells on this forum. One of my kids is somewhat anal and decided to do a chart about where the majority of the Hill-Murray students live. He took the school directory and I don't remember the exact number, but students living in Woodbury make up somewhere in the high 30% range. I can guarantee you that not all these kids attend Hill to play hockey.
Congrats to the Pioneers on yet another successful season. While it may not have been the way they wanted to go out, they proved many people wrong who thought it may be a rebuilding year. The team played in the Gold Division of the Christmas tourney and took 3rd place, took a share of the Classic Suburban with STA, and won what was arguably the toughest section in the state, 3AA. My hat goes off to the captains who carried the team and the new, young faces who stepped in and contributed extremely well in the process.
I'll mention one thing about the upcoming future, which looks good. The Pioneers return experienced goaltender Joe Phillippi, all of their regular playing forwards with the exception of Larson, and 4 of the 6 defensemen. I think a majority of those who have watched the team perform this year can agree with me that having these players back with a year or two of experience under their belts should definitely make them one of the elite teams in the state next year (Top 1-5).
As for the game, Congrats to the Royals. They played well and surprised a lot of people by just making the tourney. As for Nick Larson being out, it was indeed due to an injury. Larson suffered an upper body injury early on in the Rochester Century game that he tried to play through, which must have been tough on him...

whoever said that woodbury fans are classy people, you may want to take that back. They were pricks
good job hill on another great year. I can't wait until next year when we can prove all of these private haters wrong and continue our pride and tradition in hockey.
i was just hoping woodbury would pull out the daddy's money chant seeing as most woobury kids are wealthier than most hill kids.

Pioneerprideguy shows class and yet all you can do is still embarass yourself?
....
Well I think he will knowing that H-M returns 14 players which includes 108 goals scored this year, 4 of 6 defensemen, and a goaltender with 4 years of experience.Have a nice off season.
Oh, and by the way that wasn't even remotely funnyOh and by the way Mr. I'm Smarter Than Everyone Else Guy Because I Went to the Private School Hill Murray

Nice sign yesterday by the "classy" woodbury fans. It said "Where's Cretin" HMMMMM I don't remember a sign from Cretin last year that said "where's Woodbury" I do remember a bunch of funny signs supporting their team including players on a stick.s8888653 wrote:sachishi4

If you meant my earlier comment .. I was referring to Hill Murray players.
Congrats to Woodbury who played a really good game today. Their fans showed up in numbers and cheered quite loudly. While the state tourney wasn't the result Hill fans wanted, the season was still a success. Any time you make it through section 3AA (4AA next year) and make state, you've proven yourself. Hill didn't have enough horses to stand themselves out against either Woodbury or Century. And frankly, the wins meant a hell of a lot more to those teams then Hill. Woodbury got their first tourney win against Hill, which must be fun for their fans. Good luck tomorrow Woodbury, you'll need it. Good luck next year...
