Lehrke lovers let it go. Is he deserving to play D1. Absolutely. But what you say on here makes absolutely no difference on whether he will or not. When the time is right he will get there. Did you actually watch any elite games or just going by heresay? He is very good but, hey there is alot of good ones out there, relax, in time it will work out for him.

I watched him quite a bit this fall, after a four goal showing against NE. You are dead on in the fact he loves to open it up. And yes he will eventually get picked up, but i can't imagine why UMD wouldn't pursue. Time will tell eh.

I think UMD has to jump on him stat if they want him around because I believe, and I could be wrong but, SCSU had him go for a nice visit with McMorrow a few weekends back. UMD has to pounce soon or they may lose a nice pickup...

Any update on Lehrke?

Post by money »

Newsguy -

Any new info on Lehrke and the recruiting efforts of UMD and SCSU and their battle for Mr Lehrke?

Besides Olson, pretty quiet and I hope that will change here soon with a couple more kids committing to fill up that 09/10 class.

Have a good evening :)

Thanks for the update

Thanks for the update. With Jack Connolly and Jake Hendrickson already committed to the Dogs (5'9"ish/160-170 lbs), I really didn't know how much interest UMD would have.

However, Newsguy says he thinks UMD is after Lehrke so, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Take care,

Is connolly for 08 or 09 though, i believe hendrickson is for 09 but i am not sure about connolly. Sure looks as if connolly could go next year by his stats at SF

Connolly

Warrior07-

Jack Connolly is coming in '08 now. He is playing well in the USHL and I am excited to have a dynamic player in the line-up. they are having scoring goals and I think a player that is such a good playmaker will only help this team. He signed his LOI this past signing peroid.

Connolly coming in a little early...maybe that changes things a bit for the coaching staff with whom they are targeting. Who knows...I do like Lehrke and he is a nice player. So, if true, great. if not, somebody will be getting a good player.

Wait didn't David Grun ('06 WBL grad) commit to UMD? He currently has 22 points in 19 games for the Stampede in the USHL.

As far as I know he's committed to UMD.. Unless he de-committed. I was wondering what happened with him as well.

David Grun

Post by money »

Hello -

David Grun has signed his LOI this past fall with UMD. He played another year in USHL (this year) which delayed this arrival til next year. He is having a good year and I think playing another year in the USHL will only help his development.

Thanks for the info Money. Hopefully Grun and some of the other recruits will bring the ability to score goals to the program.

Anything?

Post by money »

Good afternoon -

Anything happening along the recruiting trail for UMD? It is amazing when your squad is stuck in the bottom half of the WCHA for the past few years, how that effects recruiting. There is just nothing happening...

PS. Saw Sandelin at the Breck vs St Thomas game last week sometime. The only players that jumped out at me were Fulton and Rehkamp for Breck and Walters for STA.

I know he and his staff were at the Hermantown vs Virginia MIB game on Tuesday night. I have heard rumors as to who he was looking at, but since they are only rumors, I will leave it at that. :)

John Schreiner - STA Cadets

Post by money »

Good evening -

Any truth to the fact the Dogs are actively pursuing Mr Schreiner from STA? I had a buddy of mine tell me that he took a visit up to God's Country this past fall.

Anyway, waiting to see who is the next Bulldog will be? Hopefully soon. Seems like forever since we have heard anything. :)

Thank you for any info,

Also noticed Sandelin at the Cloquet / Andover game before Christmas. Anyone know who he might be looking at from either squad?

Idea - CEC vs Andover

Post by money »

Lumberjack-

Thanks for the info.
Hopefully, he is looking at CEC Justin Jokinen. He already turned down scholly offers from Fairbanks and Mercyhurst. He wants to play in the WCHA and I hope he does (even if he doesn't play for the Dogs). Great player with a bright future. :)

definately looks like the dogs could get some point getter out of these recruits with grun, connolly, oleksuk, and the canadien connolly. but they also look a little small excluding grun. also going to be a great one two goalie lineup with stalock and hjelle

hard to believe stalok will still be around after this year, not really much exciting happening with the dogs, losing to bemidji! sandelin should be gone too , hjelly is about the only bright spot for UMD's future..
only one I can honestly say (and maybe connolly even tho so small)
is a good local recruit

I give Stalock (and Sandelin) one more year.

When you are losing and the locals are seeing the best players leave the area for other schools, he is naturally going to feel the heat and start taking chances with local guys to pacify the critics.

I agree on both counts...I think both will be here through at least next year. The one early defector I would predict, for better or for worse, would be Michael Gergen.

From what I've seen of Gergen this year, he needs to stay. He's not ready. Come to think of it, I don't see anybody on this year's team who is.
