Austin Holiday Tournament

Post by anderc14 »

Our team just returned from this tournament and said that the folks running the tournament were just great- especially those folks in the penalty box. Kudos to Austin for running such a great tournament.

Are you disappointed now, tigerpower?

WOWEE ! A real team effort tonite!!!

AL got those Jags 5-1.

Congrats to LK for the Hat Trick, and the WHOLE TEAM really topped the MW performance with another great game.

And, WHEN IT MATTERED, KH had 26 saves... out of 27 [no suprise]!!!!! :D :D :D All-tournament in reality??

The team is playing like a team...

And especially, thanks for everybody that worked so hard to make the tournament possible. Great job Packers!!!

hey AL, nice job with Bloomington today. i'm impressed. way to take it to one of those cities teams, prove that southern minnesota is still minnesota, and we play quality hockey down here, even with smaller enrollment, newer programs, etc. although i was a bit disappointed that i didn't get to see the old AL/Austin rivalry flare up.

i was impressed with West too. Too bad they're not still in our section. AL v. MW in the finals...THAT would be a game to see. Even seeing the two teams face off in the tournament was entertaining.

still, my biggest hooah goes to my packer girls. i think they're playing well, considering. they need to keep their heads up and move past the tournament, and i think they can get better as the season moves along as long as they keep working.

overall, a lot of fun! and i have to agree with tigerpower and say that the dancing was one of the best parts. that and TJ's move. I taught her that, you know.

Did Taylor Jenkins play in the first two games of the Austin Tourney?

Taylor played in the entire tourney. Played some other positions. Now that the games are over, there were 2 Austin first liners that decided to take a vacation during the tourney and did not play. However; this should take nothing away from the success of the other teams.

There are some teams playing some real good hockey right now. Northfield and Albert Lea showed some impressive defense and goaltending in the final games. Albert Lea appears to be really rolling right now. The championship game showed KH with a 96% save percentage and Lauren Klick with 3 goals. Really was a impressive team effort. I really should not single out players, because I could easily say positive things about every one of their players.

First liners? Kind of being generous. Austin has maybe 2-3 first liners and a lot of JV.

Yeah...funny how she was the worst goalie without her TEAM. I was suprised but was assuming it was just a bad night with too much pressure, until you brought the "TEAM" aspect to my attention...

you just saw the two sides of her personality. when she wants to be the best she is. (jag game) our team is the greatest when we decide to pass the puck. we dominated the tourney.

It's pretty interesting that those "JV" girls beat your Varsity. Your slam on Austin makes your own team look bad.

We all have bad nights... and we all have good nights.... why can't you just leave it a that? Why does my own team attack me all the time? Shouldn't teams be teams??? How come no one is talking about our shooters? They didnt do that great...

This only proves my point...the other goalies were able to stop your shooters. I didn't mean for this to be a slam I was just simply stating that you had a 51% save percentage

Oh yea, an Austin JV parent. We will see who wins the next matchup. I can not wait to see your weekend stats. I imagine you are the team we thought you were. Einstein, have you not attended the last 4-5 Austin games and seen your scores? You really look like a great team. As the season goes on you are suppose to get better.

Oh yea, by the way, #12 graduates this year.

Ah, you beat me to it. But oh well..............

KH, they are just jealous of your greatness. You can move to Faribault anytime. We would show you some love. Better yet, I imagine Austin would welcome you, after seeing tigerpower's goalie rankings.

KH...
wow!
hate to say it, but grow up!
You recieved plenty of support and gratitude from teammates, coaches, parents after the trounament because everyone recognized your amazing job.
granted people, understand that she just finished up a tough game against West right before the shoot out and was worn out, and probably honestly didn't care how she did in the shoot out because it's not written down in the stat book. (am i right KH?) and i am POSITIVE that your team understood that too.
So for you to say that you are thinking about moving to faribault, or anywhere else... :( :x   :!: :?: #-o [-X [-( :-k ](*,) :-({|=
Those just happen to be a few emotions i experienced when reading that.
Speaking confidently, you're team praises you for your job against every team in the tourney, especially Bloomington! AND YOU KNOW THAT!
Nothing got slammed in your face accept praise.
quit crying...

I take a couple days off and this place goes to hell in a hand basket, shees!

I'm willing to bet those other players and teams would trade their shoot-out trophies for a championship trophy  The shoot-out is what it is, a nice little friendly competition/diversion from the GAMES! The GAMES are what really matter and AL was 3-0.

Now, now Falcons. No need to get so defensive. I'm a little confused on who should be calling who Einstein here. I was only pointing out the facts - no predictions, no jab against Faribault.

I was merely saying that YOUR comment on Austin's team being made of mostly JV girls doesn't make YOUR team look so great. I hope Faribault doesn't count on you as their motivational speaker. :?

I have never missed one of Austin's games and I don't plan to. I know they have lost quite a few and it's not something anyone is proud of, but I have no doubt in my mind they can come back. I do know they are a very hard working TEAM and they look forward to playing every game.

Austin is a young team that has already exceeded people's expectations. I can't wait for them to do it again. See you on the 15th!

Definately a JV player's parent...or the player. Also the bitterness by using Twinnesota's "TEAM" aspect proves a second liner. Did your line even get a goal this tourney?

My vote is this is either #3 or #16. #17 is on the power play so she really shouldn't be complaining.

here's something to keep in mind:

faber was a 7th grader once. you know, one of those "JV" players. taylor too. and amy. and jenna. you can't help (or insult) youth or inexperience. you can laugh at it for now, but pretty soon 3, 17, 16, and company will be all growed up. and it'll be our turn again :) insult us while you still can..
