I'm certianly not a Edina guy but from what I have seen, and IMO of all the Hornet players i've watched Marshall is the most complete, skates hard, and has good feet, vision is excellent and sees the ice well, and can put the puck in the net.
Not looking for an agrument either...I just calls em like I sees em

He has always been one of my favorite HS players in the last few years. But you have to admit that he does get set up very well by Budish. But Everson certainly knows how to bury the puck.
I wonder if that will happen in college someday...
It'll prolly be Budish cause all the voters will vote for whoever the blog tells them to. Because he has so much pull in the sports world Or so he thinks

Was your comment the kind of attempt at a putdown that works in HS these days?

Though Leddy is my frontrunner for defensemen, I think the forward class is too deep to pick any blueliner. And, as far as I know, the class and classroom character of the players on my list is sound, so that just leaves their actually hockey performance and how the scouts and coaches project them to do after HS. So now that we have a better idea of who is NOT going to juniors, this is my shortened prediction list...
Danny Mattson- Academy Of Holy Angels - Danny should be able to put up some numbers, but AHA will have to have an improved season (and likely make State) for him to have a chance.
Zach Budish- Edina - Assuming Zach keeps pace with Everson and Lee, he should be the frontrunner amongst all candidates including his teammates. Everson and Lee were already passed over in the NHL draft, which indicates that the scouts will favor Zach in the voting process.
Tyler Pitlick- Centennial - Tyler did what he needed to do in getting named to the USA U18 Select Team, now he just has to dominate his competition to take the lead.
Ben Hanowski- Little Falls - The big IF for Ben is can he put up triple digit points without his brother or Festler? If he can, the voters will have to justify to themselves why they AREN'T voting for him.
I didn't name any of the Roseau boys because Oliver projects as the better pro but Landman should put up better numbers, thereby cancelling eachother out. Again, these are just predictions, and a lot can change throughout the course of the season.
Great group of names
Additions:
Leddy, US Under 17 & 18 selection and, I believe the only one of the bunch invited to play at NTDP.
Oliver, US Under 17 & 18 selection and committed to St. Cloud State. Landman is talented, but will more than likely follow behind Oliver.
Lapic? Should put up big numbers. The size of his school might hold him back.
Congratulations to all of these talented players for staying in high school for their senior years. They are making the choice to stay with their friends, graduate from their high school and take a run at going to the state tournament. I am sure the JR teams that drafted them would love for them to be playing in the USHL. In my opinion, it shows the value of high school hockey and the Elite League as development paths & opportunities.
That same course seemed to work for Aaron Ness and Jake Gardiner. Both were high NHL draft choices.

Budish was the USA's best player in their losing effort at the Ivan Hlinka tournament. Although Oliver, Pitlick, and Leddy didn't do poorly, Budish probably added some distance from all of them. There's a lot that could happen between now and the end of the high school season, but if they gave out a preseason Mr. Hockey award, I'd rank the top three this way...

1. Budish
2. Hanowski
3. Leddy
Supporting facts please!
Budish's first name is Zach. Hanowski plays for Little Falls. Leddy has committed to the Gophers. Those are facts.
Seriously, it's just my opinion based on the known criteria for Mr. Hockey voting.
Since pro scouts' opinions weigh heavily into the Mr. Hockey voting process, the CSB Preliminary Rankings are a good indicator of who's in the running. Here's who they have as "A" rated prospects...
Zach Budish (Edina)
Dan DeLisle (Totino Grace)
Ben Hanowski (Little Falls)
Nick Leddy (Eden Prairie)
Danny Mattson (Holy Angels)
Nick Oliver (Roseau) Tyler Pitlick (Centennial)
Pitlick isn't eligible for the NHL draft until 2010, but most of the diehards would agree that'd he'd be an "A" rated prospect if he were eligible this coming year. Budish (as I'm sure everybody is aware) won't be winning the Mr. Hockey award.
So does Budish being out for the 2008-09 season help or hurt Everson's and Lee's chances of winning? Obviously Budish has had quite a bit to do with the success of the other two, and vice versa, but does the loss of Zack help boost the numbers of the other two because they have to make up for his lost production, or does it reduce their numbers because defenses will be able to key more on them and Budish will not be out their to set them up for points?
That's a good question. I'd hazard to guess that the Budish injury might actually help Everson and Lee's stats, as the two of them on a line are still plenty dangerous, and they don't have to share quite as much anymore. Whoever their linemate is (Taft? Gaarder?) will also be a very lucky person.
Though it may help the individuals, who knows what it will do to the team as a whole.
