Teams in conferences can't control how difficult those games on their schedule will be. For alot of schools the conference schedule accounts for most of their games with maybe 6 games of non-conference. I don't know how strong the conference will be overall but I did see that EP added Minnetonka and Stillwater for non-conference games. I am not sure if they are in the Kaposia tourney again and if they are who is in the tournament this year.

well superstar, I was referring to EP's non-conf schedule. I have respect for the lake itself. My bone to pick is how they had no problem turning up the heat when they have 12 seniors coming from all over the place, and then when they have to rely on their homegrown, they duck and run. You can't tell me that the lake teams aren't licking their chops to get a little pay back this yearSuperStar wrote:Yeah that Pesky lake Conference is terrible!
Don't you worry Hansonbro - We are going crash your team (The liitle sisters of the Poor) in the dust... I can't wait!
Of course they are looking for revenge - Thats why I am talking a bunch of smack! I love the smack talking.. ...Seriously, If we go .500 I will be proud of them.
players from other towns..? You mean like all the private schools do..? I can't comment on that, I have little knowledge...But, I do know, it was a courageous move for those girls and look where it got them..2 state titles in 3 years and alot of exposure..without the 13K/year price tag to go private schools and in the last 3 years they have had around 8 (?) players get full rides to D1 schools. If you think about it, it's was a good move.
Now back to the subject..Is your team on our schedule this year..? I am thinking that it will be a automatic "W" for us, but thats just a guess...

No, the team I support is one of the teams your squad decided to duck this year. But I'll give you a hint, they were the only team to beat yours last yearSuperStar wrote:Of course they are looking for revenge - Thats why I am talking a bunch of smack! Good move short term (for the girls), bad move long term (for the program). At LEAST 20 kids left EP due to the recruiting, and they were not the bubble players in the youth program during those 3-4 years.
so the rebuilding begins.... Hopefully, they can start retaining the talent in the pipeline.
Back on topic, I think it will be a great battle between Tonka & Edina, and it will go to the bitter end. Both of those programs have done a fantastic job developing, and for the most part, keeping the local talent. They will both be strong for the next 3-4 years. My vote this year, goes to 'Tonka, but wait 'til the new coach in Edina gets a year under her belt.

Preseason Top Ten
I think that the preseason favorites should include several Class A teams such as Roseau and Blake and perhaps Warroad as well.
In no particular order my preseason top ten are:
Blake
Centennial
Edina
Hill-Murray
Hopkins
Irondale
Roseau
Roseville
Stillwater and
Cloquet or Grand Rapids Greenway

I don't think you can learn a lot from the scrimmagefests.....they are a time for coaches to roll 3-4 lines and 2-3 goalies - sometimes they call penalties - sometime they don't or just whistle a player off or shoot penalty shot. They are meant to help coaches see players early in the season.mnhkylvr wrote:I think the scrimmages this weekend will give a good initial indication. Can't wait to see how the teams match up.

Also interesting that 4 out of the top 10 teams are from the SEC. And Cretin Derham Hall, which did very well in the State Tournament last year, is not even ranked. You can't put too much stock in pre-season polls, before any games have been played, but at this point you would have to say that the SEC will be very competitive and it will take great consistency to come out on top. I think Hill Murray could surprise.joehockey wrote:AA

The other conference that stands out is the Classic Lake, with Edina, Hopkins and Minnetonka. Small conference, but three out of their five teams are ranked in the pre-season Top 5, plus Wayzata which is ranked No. 20. But here I would say that Edina has the most depth and is the clear favorite - they will be very tough to beat this year.
Good observation, with only one flaw. Hill-Murray isn't in the SEC, although it is in Section 4 with the other 3. But I get the point, which is that it's going to be a war all season.MNHockeyFan wrote:
