They are not the talent laden team that some people like to think they are. Above average at this time, no better. By the end of the year they will have a shot at playing Hill to go to state along with Roseville and Stillwater. The talent is definately down across the board in the S.E.C. thats part of the reason some of us are moving elsewhere. Fans of these teams will blame coaches and refs all year but the reality is that they are very average with a chance to become pretty good by the end.
im very surprised. all their games they have lost have been by 1 or more.with an exception of moorhead who had 2 empty netters...but they are losing to teams they shouldnt be. i mean, when you put in a goal off of your own teams skate(woodbury)that basically gave the game away in the third, and lose to 2 good teams up in moorhead and fargo by very small margins i just think WBL keeps falling short. and hockeyscout you cant tell me its not a coaches mistake when with a minute left in this game WBL puts out their 4th line and woodbury puts in their 1st. i mean really?how can you NOT blame the coach?

I don't think after watching tonight I would say White Bear has any number 1 or number 2 defensemen, just a bunch of 4's and 5's. The best one tonight was number 2 by far. the seniors did some things well but some others not so well. the talent pool is just not what it once was at WB. Woodbury has a very big, hard working team that wore down White Bear and was more physical. I liked what I saw out of a couple of the young guys for Woodbury and they will be watched more closely over the next couple of years. White Bear doesn't have a player that we think can play at the division one level on their team right now.that is a consensus of all of our scouts at this time. I wish both teams well and hope they improve as the year goes on. Hill will be back at state and Woodbury or Cretin out of their section, both have a chance as I feel that neither team is great but that they are evenly matched.
I am being assigned a new region to scout so I won't be around for the first time in quite a few years. I will miss Minnesota high school hockey for now but may be able to sneak back during the playoffs.
I don't know who you scout for, but if that is your observation, I hope its not for any local teams!
