From what I know of it, the Mite league is purely a repititious skating skill development program that gives the kids a opprotunity to get confident on their skates which will then make the stickhandling and game play a little easier (they will need to continue off ice to improve the others, those skills are not a switch) at the current level.
The squirt league teams have approxiamtely 4-5 Minnesota Made summer team players (Machine, Deuce, Snipers & Grinders) on each team. This is a choice by the parents/players to continue with the coaching, skill development they have come to respect and believe in over the winter months too instead of just the summer.
You can knock Bernie if you want for "making money" it is a business, get beyone the money. Or knock the parents because "they are bitter" or whatever reason you want. It is a Choice, if it effects a association because a player left and may have or may have not made a difference, so what, its a choice! Be happy you are not paying the higher league costs, gas and travel time. If those families make it work who does it really matter and does it effect you?
I have heard many positive remarks about the high speed skill based practices and games. I have heard small complaints too, but the complaints that I have heard are purely based on the decision to play, travel, gas and fees. Can Bernie really be blamed for parents making the decisions?
Just my bit. I will do my best to answer and questions or comments, I enjoy the back and forth talk.
Moveyourfeet- I've always wondered why people worry about other people they don't even know? The best are the people that have older kids and want to share their wisdom to us younger parents. Us poor younger parents don't know anything about youth sports.

The parents I talked to said they really like the benefit of playing 3 other high calibur teams continuously. They say the players like the bragging rights from week to tweek.
I understand there is a few "A" level players, but overall how is the caliber? Squirt A or B level? Parents from inside and outside the league think they can compete with the mid range Squirt A teams but the bigger associations, Edina, EP, OMG, Wayzata etc... and more 97 birth year kids the road would be tougher and the outcome would be as you have seen as those teams play small associations.
Do all the squirt teams practice from the same plan? Or does each head coach have individual input and the ability to write their own practice plan?
Heard both, Bernie sets up plans and or the coaches can use there own ideas as well. Not really sure, good question. Hope a coach from there can add some input.
Would you have your son participate in this league again next year if they were going to be selected to play squirt A on the EP team for example?
I dont know, my kids are older. Association is always good because of the school friends aspect. But on the other side, the kids can make new friends and grow good competition with those skaters, just like summer AAA.
